Britney Spears new documentary "Britney Spears: For The Record" aired commercial free on MTV last night.
Well, they SAID it was commercial free. But halfway through they had a block of four commercials for various products that apparantly didn't count as commercials because Britney appeared in all of them. Sounds like a shady loophole to me
After watching the 65 minute long documentary though I'm more convinced than ever that the best way to make your money is in the boardroom, not in front of a microphone or TV/Movie camera.
I would HATE her life. Not being able to go for a walk without being mobbed. Having to be snuck into a closed store so I could shop. Not for me.
No. I know she is trying to change her image, but I still think she is a trainwreck. She chose the life she has. She elected to turn herself into a human cartoon character who courts public attention at all hours. Given that fact right there, she can't really complain about lacking privacy.

Ya know what Tiger Woods lives around these parts...both he and his wife (and baby) are always seen around town...he greets people with a smile, signs an autograph or two and is generally very happ to be noticed.
Brit spent so long trying to be on the front page, that it's very hard now to try and live the Tiger life style and NOT be noticed. She has no one to blame but herself!
I hear what you're saying. I was telling my sister that if it was really all that bad she could retire today and live her life as an average person with a TON of money.
BUT, she was not complaining about it. In fact, she went out of her way to say she wasn't complaining about it. She understands it's part of the package, but naturally at times wonders what it would be like to just go to her favorite ice cream place and get a cone without being mobbed.
When my Dad died a few years ago I really did a lot of thinking about how everyone has a different set of crosses to bear (so to speak) in life. I think being a celebrity may look great from the outside, but in reality there are a lot of negatives to it. Money does not make a person happy. fame does not keep a person from feeling alone.
I feel particularly bad for these kids like Britney who's parents made the decision to throw them into the spotlight as a young child. They asked Britney if her life seemed crazy to her and she said it doesn't, because it's all she's ever known.
It almost seems like child abuse to me for a parent to start a kids career at age 7. Once they've tasted fame and fortune of COURSE they're gonna stick with it, but they never really made that choice on their own.
Ah well. Anyway. I'm rooting for her. I've been one of her harshest critics in the past, but gosh darn it if I don't love a good comeback story.

Yeah, but come on, he's a golfer. Most teenagers couldn't give a hoot about golf.
Britney is just in a line of work that lends itself to the mobs of idiots who want to idolize her.
I'm not trying to defend her, well, maybe a little. But Tiger Woods isn't in a field that lends itself to crazy fans. His fan base is middle aged to old white men for the most part.
For the record, I agree completely, she's there because she wants to be. She could quit anytime she wants. But does the fact she's wealthy and famous mean we can't afford her an ounce of sympathy for the things she losses in her life as a result of it?
It would be a little easier to have sympathy for that sort of thing if she didn't call the media to let them know when she is going out for an ice cream.

I am a cynic, but I don't think that is such a bad thing. Again, I'd feel sorry for her if she wasn't courting this sort of thing. There are lots of celebrities who don't experience the same effect because they seek to keep somewhat of a separation between their public life and their private life. Brittany never did that.
