And now I hate CC. I would have totally understood him going to any team near his home in California, but he has said in the past he didn't want to pitch in NY. Apparantly an extra $20 million got him to don his "I Heart New York" Tee Shirt.
I hope he falls on his face now and when he does I hope the NY fans rip him to peices.
I saw the headline, but I thought it was just an offer. Didn't realize that he would sign the deal, especially since he said he didn't want to pitch there.

The Yanks will regret signing this contract in the long run for such a length and amount, but they'll get some good stats from him in the short run and just eat the rest of his contract because they can. Meanwhile, as a life-long Pirates fan, I can only shrug my shoulders and say this is why baseball is so screwed up. 2/3 of the teams enter spring training knowing they have NO shot at the world series, unlike the other sports that have mroe equitable 'playing surfaces' for all their teams.
Ah, someone who knows my pain as a baseball fan. In the recent years the Phillies have had a lot more success. The Pirates have started strong a few times only to fade to the basement. I hope they get a chance to sign some talent and develop the young kids.

I see that the mets went and signed the Angles closer K Rod. I hope the Phillies have a big lead in everygame they play against the Mets and don't have to see that guy.

That is why people don't understand why the Phillies have 10,000 loses. They have been around since 1883 and have had streaks of losing seasons. Early on in the franchise they didn't win many games.

He must want a shot a winning though. If the Brewers offered him $100m for five years that isn't far off what he is close to getting with the Yankees. Although, it may have something to do with all the cash upfront and a chance to escape from NY in 3 years that has him choosing NY.
I still agree with you SG, I don't think either is worth it. That ridiculous amount of money is what turns you against rooting that the guy fails next year.

Actually they're reporting that his agents wanted the 3 year opt-out no matter where he signed.
The Brewers were happy to include it and were willing to add a sixth year and 20 million more if that would have made the difference.
So he could have stayed here for 6 years and $120 million with a 3 year opt out.
Sabathia, the 2007 AL Cy Young winner and the hero of the Brewers 2008 run to the playoffs, had spent the last several weeks talking about how much he wanted to play on the West Coast, where he grew up and where he is building a home. But, the Post reported, after Yankees G.M. Brian Cashman flew to San Francisco Tuesday to lay his cards and Steinbrenner cash on the table, Sabathia realized that home is where the paycheck is. Hell make at $160 million for six years and maybe more. Its the biggest contract ever for a pitcher.
I'm not angry at CC anymore. My anger is back where it should be, with the Yankees.
Now the Brewers are talking about trading Mike Cameron AND Bill Hall to the Yankees for next to nothing.
That's great for CC because those were two of his closest friends in Milwaukee, so he'll have a nice little support system in NY.
I'm so FRICKING fed up with a baseball league that refuses to do something serious about the competitive imbalance.
The Brewers are a small market team and this last year we did everything we could to compete with the big boys. A 90 million dollar payroll, a blockbuster trade where we gave away our brightest young prospect, 3 million fans in the seats. All to come up woefully short.
Now we'll be immediately kicked back to the curve and struggle to break 500 again while teams like the Cubs and Yankees just open their endless checkbooks and buy themselves into the playoffs again.
I don't understand it. Why wouldn't MLB see the benefit of having a THIRTY team league? As opposed to a 10 team league with 20 minor league teams to beat up on and pluck the best players away from?
A salary cap scares the big teams because they know it means they'd have to win based on managerial talent, scouting ability and player ability. It's so much easier to let everyone else figure out who the best players are and then just buy them.
Every one of the yankees pennants should also have that years price tag attached to it!
But aren't Mike Cameron and Bill Hall two guys the Brewers were trying to build the team around? Didn't I see a headline that said the Brewers weren't going to have a fire sale since they couldn't land CC? If they trade these guys maybe I won't have to worry about the Brewers chasing my Phillies for a playoff spot.
