I clicked on a link that said WASHINGTON NATIONALS OFFER TEXIERA 8 YEAR DEAL FOR 160 MILLION.

When I got there the story had already changed to this...

The New York Yankees have reeled in another prime free agent, reaching a preliminary agreement with first baseman Mark Teixeira for $180 million over eight years.

A person familiar with the negotiations disclosed the agreement, which is subject to a physical. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet final.

Seriously? Is he really worth that money? I can't see how the Yankees think they can buy a championship. no.gif  They still have to win the games.

What surprises me is the length of these guys contracts. Do they really want to be locked into these guys for 8 years?!?!

If things don't work out they're gonna be in some real trouble.

A Rod screwed them royally last year. He could have accepted the new offer and Texas still would have had to pay alot of the contract for another year or two. I wonder if it has a no trade clause or an opt out after 3 years like CC.

The thing with those opt outs is it's the players option.

So if CC gets hurt or just sucks, he'll be sure to keep collecting his 23 million a year.

True. I don't know baseball very well. To me, A-Rod is the guy who Madonna got divorced over. I don't know the rest of the players. KC has the Royals... they are even less impressive that the Chiefs were this year.
