I for one am glad to see 2008 go. It rocked compared to my 2007, but I'm hoping for even better in 2009.
This morning started early for me thanks to a storm that was moving through. We had "wind gusts" between 70-80 MPH. In most places, that kind of wind is considered problematic. Around the central plains, it's just a gust. I got up in the middle of the night because it sounded like a freight train heading straight at my bedroom. Looked outside and saw the trees swaying really hard in the wind, then decided to go back to bed. This morning I got up and looked out my bathroom window to see that one whole side of my neighbor's 6 ft. privacy fence is now wrapped around her deck. There are some small branches down, but that seemed to be the worst of the damage. I checked my roof, gutters, and trees seem fine. I will have to cut down a few branches down that didn't break all the way, but they are small and can wait until the weather is better. I lucked out there.
I hear we are supposed to have another wave of sleet and snow later. Happily I am home for the rest of the night.

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
It's friggin' the last Saturday of the year, it was 0 degrees at the beginning of the week, and now I'm outside in a t-shirt and comfortable. WTH?! Don't get me wrong, I'm only complaining because I know it's not going to stay. It is windy here too. I saw some shingles scattered around the property, but that's it.
I'm still waiting for "Christmas" to end. We've got people coming over tonight for some holiday visiting etc. My dad and his family are in from L.A. Last night was at my parents. Day before her parents/family. Ice dams messing up our bathroom again. It also backed up in to the dining room. Plans to have a roofer come on over are in motion. Thing that sucks... the roof is five years old. Well the roofing material is. The roof is around eighty. The misuss and I were thinking, this warm weather can stay and just start Spring early. We had snow and cold for Christmas. Good enough for us. Anybody know if JD is on tomorrow eve??
