Last Sunday In December

Good afternoon all.  We have extremely high winds here today; it woke all of us up around 4 this morning.  All the windows in the front of my house have been shaking all day; hope one of them doesn't come crashing in.  The good news is yesterday it warmed up some and combined with an all day rain it melted all the snow exept where it's piled up from snowblowing.  The bad news is we're now under a flood warning; the Saginaw River is supposed to crest later today......I'm on high enough ground that it won't affect my house but those that live close to the river will have water surrounding them.

Anyway, if the wind doesn't take out my internet connection, I plan to tune in for JD's shows tonight.  I've been having problems staying connected today from the wind, so we'll see what happens later on.

Hope all of you are having a good day! smile

It's 28 and sunny here. That's not so great but, compared to the past weekend, I am so glad it's cold again.
Our dining room ceiling started leaking Friday night. Our downstair (1st floor) bathroom ceiling began leaking shortly after (2 am on Saturday!) then, to top it off... all the melting snow started "oozing" in to my basement. My sump was plugged by all the heavy snow so, when I tested the pump, the pipe to outside separated and blew all the water on to the floor in the basement. Luckily, I had an hour until guests would arrive.doh
JD, anything on the air tonight? I'm thinkin' of doing some stripe practice.

WOW... good luck to you Squonk.

I think it is supposed to be sunny and in the low 40's here today. We did get a little snow last night but it is supposed to melt off today. For right now, my plan is to hang out at the house. Tomorrow is supposed to be a decent day too, so I might be meeting Pambo for lunch if she is feeling up to getting out.

Sounds like you have quite the mess to deal with Squonk. cry  Hope you were able to get the basement dried up and the sump's working ok now.

Hope I can stay connected tonight.  The wind has died down a little bit so maybe I won't have any problems.

We went to my dad's for Christmas today. He insisted on us giving him a list of what we wanted for Christmas before, so we put down some books, games, CDs, and DVDs, thinking he'd get us each a couple. Instead, he got us about 75% of our list! We got him pajama pants and a sweatshirt, my stepmom a nice Tommy Hillfiger (sp?) sweater, and 2 $25 restaurant gift cards. I think they liked them. We played euchre as usual, then after linner/dunch we played dominoes for a few HOURS! We had so much fun and ended up leaving about 2 hours later than I anticipated.

But now, brr. It's cooled down considerably compared to yesterday, and we didn't turn the heat back on before we left. I really should be heading to bed, but it'll be freezing, so there's no way I'm going in alone. And Brian's over comforting a friend, although he didn't know about what when he left. Hopefully he'll be back home soon and he'll give me the scoop.
