Crazy as you wanna be... Blago makes a move

How about the cojones on Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich? All this mess going on and he decides to go ahead and appoint someone to the Senate. Must be hard to find pants that fit right! laughing.gif

The guy is a one man, walking, talking, freak show. I feel bad for the people of Illinois, but its fun to watch.

Oh the press conference was a thing of beauty.

Ol' Gabjovinidlsek said he's enjoyed the limelight the last few weeks no.gif

Then after the senate candidate spoke he brought a black congressman on to talk about how this guy would be the only black senator and he would hope the rest of the senate wouldn't block the only black senator from his seat. (basically he went out of his way to make it clear this would be a a race issue if anyone tries to stop the appointment).

Un freaking believable.

Yeah, they have been trotting out every black reverand and politician in Illinois trying to get them to talk about how the powers that be are trying to keep the black man down. Uh... no. Guess we can ignore the corrupt bastage that appointed him. Certainly that couldn't have anything to do with casting a doubt on his appointment.

I was listening to WGN on the car radio. Out of four black callers every one of them said the Governor is a good man and this is just white America trying to keep blacks down! weirdface.gif

One woman was actually singing the governors praises and said we can take it to the bank that no charges will ever be filed because he's innocent.

I'm getting awful tired of race relations. It seems to me that at this point the next step to better race relations is for black Americans to stop crying racism everybtime a black person doesn't get what they want.

It's the ultimate in being treated fairly! I RARELY get what I want! Congratulations, you're finally being treated like a white man!

I've been pondering all this over in the last couple hours. I think ol' Joe Blago is a little bit slicker than they are giving him credit for. He KNOWS he's going to be out of office in a matter of a couple months. If there is a crime there, he will be charged with it. Yet, as he admits publicly, he is enjoying the spotlight he's been getting. He loves having all of this attention, even if it is for negative reasons. I think he intentionally picked a black guy for the job knowing that he's going to get the massive backlash out of whomever he appoints, but by golly he is going to appoint someone to grab headlines. And now he can come off as a really great guy trying to assure the ethnic diversity of the US Senate. no.gif This dude is bat schizzle crazy like a fox!

Oh no doubt.

I think the guy is a genuine nut job, but probably incredibly smart. In the same way serial killers usually are brilliant guys.

This appointment was a calculated attempt to win over some support. He was laying it on thick about how the people of Illinois deserve two voices in the senate, they shouldn't suffer because of what he's going through, etc. etc.

Then he gave the same speil about the guy he nominated. Talked about how brilliant he is, how much he deserves this, and don't take out your anger at the governor on this guy.

One talking head was saying it was also a way of saying to the prosecutors "look, the guy I nominated didn't pay me off, he's highly qualified, so where's your case?"

But just like most of those serial killers, he believes he's smarter than everyone else and can't be caught. Just like a lot of serial killers he started daring the justice system to try and catch him.

In the end, he WILL fall.

He is for sure going down. I've been trying to figure out if he is going for Sarah Palin's folksiness when he talks to the press or if he is laying the groundwork for an insanity defense. Its a hard call at this point. In my estimation the guy really is barking at his own butt level of crazy, but selling that to a jury is another matter since a lot of it does come off looking contrived. Some day this will end up being a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie of the week.

Makes a lot of sense if you stand back and look at how all of this is going down. He's definitely working an angle that involves some sort of cash advance.

I can't believe the guy still has like a 14% approval rating.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!?!?!  How can 14 out of every 100 people think he's doing a good job!?!?  weirdface.gif

Well, his mom probably still loves him. I'm sure he has a few cousins, maybe some aunts and uncles.... then there are the people who are completely oblivious to what is going on in the world and the people who say nutty crap like that just for effect.... It could happen.

I saw on Twitter that Sarah is a grandma now. I haven't verified that with a real news source though.

Where it comes to politics, I'd suppose just about anything can happen. We are all probably lucky that ol' Blago didn't appoint himself to that Senate seat.

The real news sources are confirming that Bristol Palin did give birth to a son on Sunday. I think she named him Trip.

I'm listening to someone interview Roland Burris... the Senate appointee. I guess someone at the news conference today nailed him on making campaign donations to Blago. But I do have to give it to the guy... he just gave the quote of the holiday season: "What does 'taint' have to do with legality?" rofl.gif

Soooooo many 'taint' jokes, so little taste!!!

It just keeps getting harder to believe.

At the press conference they said he gave 14,000. His response was to go on and on about how much money that seems to be. He said his organization didn't have that kind of money to give. Was it really that much?

I'm thinking, hey bonehead, you're making their point for them! If you DID give that much and you're claiming how big of an amount that is and how you're organization couldn't afford it, doesn't that suggest you were paying someone off?!??!!

Still getting crazier.

The news outlets have pulled up an interview of Congressman Rush, the one who was saying the white senate best not keep the black senate appointment of Burris from going forward.

In the interview on December 9'th he says that Blagovich has no moral basis to make a selection for senate and should not be allowed to do it.  Funny how his tune changed whent he selection was somebody he wanted in the seat.

Also Blago actually said the senate should not "Hang or Lynch" his appointee because they don't like the governor.  no.gif  Talk about using the race card.  Jeesh.

It is pretty gross. Gotta give it to Gov. Crazy F-Bomb, he sure knew what he was doing on this one. He picked the one guy who they look like a jerk for saying no to. Still, how can they agree to seat him? How could he possibly want to put himself in that position KNOWING that even if it is his heart's fondest desire that everyone will be against him?

I know. He sat there at the appointment press conference with a goofy smile (this Burris dude I mean) like it was a normal senate appointment.

The appointment is so tainted, his career is likely over after this. Even if it goes through he'll be voted out after one partial term because people will be annoyed with how he got in.

I could listen to the interview he gave later that day over and over again. It is just too darn funny listening to him say, "What does taint have to do with it?" Gee, friend... I wonder? Somebody ought to kick you in the taint for going along with this insanity!

Apparently Blago's lawyer made a call to someone else offering the Senate seat, and that guy told him to go pound sand because he didn't want anything to do with this circus.

It seems like Roland Burris is just desperate enough to get into the senate any way he can.

In a recent interview he said "It is a fact, there are no African-Americans in the United States Senate," he said. "Is it racism that is taking place? That's a question that someone may raise."

Uh NO, it's called an election process. In a lot of the senate races there wasn't even a minority running.

Don't try to justify your appointment as right just because you're black.
