Looking for a job in America

John Smith started the day early having set his

Alarm clock  (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m.

While his coffeepot   (MADE IN CHINA )

Was perking, he shaved with his

Electric razor  (MADE IN HONG KONG ).

He put on a

Dress shirt  (MADE IN SRI LANKA),

Designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE)

And

Tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new

Electric skillet  (MADE IN INDIA)

He sat down with his

Calculator  (MADE IN MEXICO)

To see how much he could spend today. After setting his

Watch (MADE IN TAIWAN)

To the radio (MADE IN INDIA)

He got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY)

Filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia)

And continued his search

For a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging

 And fruitless day checking his

Computer (Made In Malaysia),

Joe decided to relax for a while.

He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL)

Poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE)

And turned on his

TV (MADE IN INDONESIA),

And then wondered why he cant find a good paying job in AMERICA .

I think our economy would be so much better if we could somehow back off half of the imports. I realize it would hurt other countries, but our mentality is to buy low prices things that are substandard. We could really benefit from keeping most products on our shelves that are made here. Even if it costs more, in the long run I think it would even out.

I've mentioned him several times before, but my uncle Curt is a bit of a hero of mine.

Since he's been in his thirties he insists on buying American, even though it takes him a lot longer to shop and costs him a great deal more money.

Recently he bought a sofa and recliner from a local store after the sales person assured him the stuff was made in the USA. A week later they delivered the stuff and when my uncle was moving the furniture around he found the tag that said China.

He had it returned immediately and went out and spent $500 more at a different store to get an American made living room set.

He does this for everything from combs to major purchases like cars.

I have a great deal of respect for his commitment to it. I tend to opt for the financial savings that foreign products tens to offer.

I do not remember reading that before. That is commendable.

Didn't Walmart try to only sell USA goods at one time? There is no way to keep that up though and have their low prices.

It is too bad they can't somehow only buy USA goods and make sure that they buy enough to make the prices low and refuse imports. hmm

Wal-Mart quit selling Made In America only stuff after Sam Walton died. He was the one who insisted on that.
