As we did a Valentines thread, I thought we should do a St. Patrick's Day one too.

So Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Do we have any Irish blood amongst us then?
If so have a good day and have a pint of guinness for me!

Happy St Patricks Day!


The better 1/2 of me is Irish. Tremaine and Nate runnin through these veins. In fact, a few years ago John Cougar Mellencamp was playing in Milwaukee at the Summerfest grounds while Irish Fest was on. The price of the Mellencamp ticket included free admission into Irish Fest as well. This was the first time I was at Irish Fest.


It turns out all the clans get together and march in drunken loud parades celebrating themselves. I first saw a Tremaine parade and said "hey I could so be in that thing!" but then said "naaaah". and then on the other side of the grounds came the Nate clan. I for a second thought that I had found "home" or "my people" or something. Watching the people in the parades I finally decided it was best just to let them pass and not say anything...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I celebrate it more as a Catholic, than as Irish.  I did wear green today, though.  I have some Irish blood.  Dysarts and Breden's.  It's very dilluted now, the family came over in the late 1700's, early 1800's.  My husband's family has Day's in it.  That is more recent.  His great grandmother's parents were full blooded Irish.   I'm a Heinz 57.  Irish, German, French, Flemish, Native American.  My husband's make up is Irish, German, Dutch, French, Native American.

Although it seems like I have everything else in me, no irish.  One of the stripes in my shirt is green, but that's the closest I have to anything green to even wear.  My husband is mostly German, but I'm your typical American mutt: Swiss, scandinavian, british, native american, and probably a couple more that I don't know about (my grandpa was adopted).

Im pure English, don't think there is any other nation in my family history that I know of anyway, I thought my surname was Irish but I just checked that and its not, so Im 100% English!

No Irish for me.  I think I'm 25% Welsh, 25% German, 25% Italian, and then some other stuff thrown in.  I believe my Welsh is from the clan Buchanan.

Although I will say, this St. Paddy's day, I'll be at home doing some serious loads of laundry...while drinking a Guinness.  Not my normal St. Paddy's, but much safer.

I saw a card at the drugstore with a picture of a margarita on the front.  On the inside it said, "Green beer is for wussies!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!"  Perhaps I will have a margarita tonight...
