That's what's so sad Fuzzy. If I had to put odds on it right now I'd say I'll never see a Brewer championship in my lifetime. I'd even say the odds are VERY good I'll never even see them in the world series.

I think the last few years we saw the peak of what revenue sharing can do, and now we're moving into a period where the revenue sharing is worthless, it's just a drop of water in a bucket.

The players union will never have a serious salary cap, if they do agree to one it'll be so high that it will be meaningless.

We're just gonna move more and more to the point of 5 or 6 teams dominating the sport for eternity. hmm.gif

Obviously the "luxury tax" is not doing what it is supposed to be doing. How hard can it be to redistribute the wealth to all teams?

Have you seen how high the bar is now for the luxury tax to kick in? And it keeps going up like 10 - 15 million every year!

How's THAT gonna help? IF we're gonna have a luxury tax it should kick in at about 150 million. THAT would work. THAT would operate like a soft cap.

I didn't realize it was so high. I just figure between the Yankees and Red Sox there should be plenty of money for the smaller market teams.

This is from last year...

The payroll threshold for the luxury tax increases from $136.5 million this year to $148 million next year and then goes up each year until it reaches $178 million in 2011.

So I guess it's just under $150 this year.

Maybe $120 would be fairer. I know we're a small market club that's operating on a mid-market budget right now and we're at 80 million pushing to 90 if we're in the race.

I seriously wouldn't mind if they capped my salary at $178 million in 2011, assuming I got the incremental raises between now and then. nod.gif

I'll take just one year at the salary cap. I wouldn't be able to spend, share or give it all away.
