Wow, I'm getting here late today! It's been a busy, busy day and I'm glad it's finally winding down! I went to the eye doctor yesterday, and just as I suspected, I will now need to wear glasses all the time, not just for reading anymore. My distance vision is going bad and they also had to kick up the bifocal a little bit. Man, getting old really bites!!!!! Anyway, I wanted to get those transition lenses......the kind that darken when you go out in the sun....but dang, they wanted an additional $150 for 'em! Guess I'll just go with those "totally cool" clip-on sunglasses. (I'm trying to tell myself that I won't look like a total dweeb.)
What?!? Clip-on shades aren't cool? DOH! Why does no one tell me these things? Good thing I lost mine... now I wear my old lady fit over the glasses shades. They ROCK at keeping the wind out of the eyes while on the bike.

Count me in as a dweeb. I have clip on's too. Mine have a spring in the middle and then clip over the outside edges of the lenses. I don't think they look too goofy. I think they were about $30.00.
I had the transition lenses before and over time, the got a brown tint to them that was always there, even when I was inside. They wouldn't go back to clear. I asked the eye place about that and their answer was "yeah, they do that over time". It drove me nuts because nothing was ever the right color. A white sheet of paper always looked like it had a brown hue to it.
Those are like the clip-ons I had. You have to take them completely off. Far as the other kind, it really depends on how much you want to spend on them. I got mine at Wal-Mart I think. Harley sells some that are really nice and really spendy.
I need to get me another pair of clip ons one of these days.

Mema, are your's just regular sunglasses that fit on over the top of your glasses? I'm just wondering, with summer coming in a few months, which I'd be better off with. I'm in and out a lot during the summer so I'm looking for "easy to use" I guess.
Yes, they are designed with the intent of being worn over prescription glasses. They have the side windows and everything. I'll see if I can find a picture.

I've got expensive prescription ones but, holy schmolly, they are awesome.

I considered having the glasses I use right now converted into sunglasses, but I won't be able to see in the distance very good with 'em. I think I'm gonna check and see how much they want to do that when I pick up my new glasses though.
I had a pair of clip-ons that were made for my glasses... those were the best ones I ever owned. I picked the glasses because I liked the frames and I was told that the clip-ons came with the frames... as in "included in the price". When I went to pick them up, I found out they were another $80! They broke about 2 years later. Since then, I buy the cheap ones.

My sunglasses are for distance. I've got two convertibles, you know.

I know! Isn't it ridiculous what they want for some of that stuff?? I'm hoping I get a decent case when I pick mine up. Last time they tried to pass off this cheap plastic one on me. I told them I just paid over $300 for glasses, I think they can do better than a $2.00 case to put them in.
The closest I've come to owing a convertible was my 1979 Firebird...it had a t-top. Loved that car!!
Yeah.. one of my friends had the Camaro Berlinetta. He used to let me drive it every once in a while. Unfortunately, he and the car both died in an accident with a 18-wheeler.
