Superbowl Commercials

If you watched, did you have any favorites? Did you think that the commercials just weren't all that much? I couldn't play with the 3D stuff, but didn't really mind much.

I know I don't remember much from year to year, but I think I found that there were a lot of commercials for NBC programming and upcoming movies. I wonder if they couldn't sell all the slots so they tooted their own programming.

I enjoyed the careerbuilder.com commercial that started with the woman screaming in her car and then built up.

Neither Coke nor Pepsi had anything entertaing. Well, Coke did have the semi redo of the old Mean Joe Greene commercial from 1980. Budweisder was okay.

Any thoughts?

I LOVED that Careerbuilder.com commercial! It's called "Tips". The Bridgestone Mr. & Mrs Potatohead and Dorito's "Crystal Ball" were also pretty good.

Coke's redo of the Mean Joe Green commercial was a nice touch... Troy Polamalu was a good pick.

I had the 3D glasses, but wasn't overwhelmed with the 3D effect.

I was proud of Sprint for stepping out with the new Nextel commercial. "Roadies" is what it is called... not the best commercial ever, but it's pretty good compared to a lot of what they have come up with.

I missed the Sprint commercial. I think I was in the kitchen and talking. I am sure it will surface.

Over on Animal Planet they have Puppybowl V. I saw some of it. It was the cutest thing with all these puppies playing with one another. There was tackiling, some nipping, some touchdowns, puppies stomping in the water bowl. Easily there were about four puppies on there that I pointed out and wanted to take home. "I want that one. Oooo and that one." "Oh, isn't he the cutest little thing?"

It's along the same theme as the one they have been running, but this one is "What if roadies ran the world?" Its a crew of roadies flying a commercial airliner using their Nextel phones to communicate. The "flight attendant" is a big burly, hairy guy holding the example seatbelt... he hooks the belt together as he says "This in here (click) and we're outta here! Buckle up, dudes!" then it shows the creepy looking roady pilot saying "lights... stage" as the runway lights up, then as the plane is taking off he says "LET'S ROCK! WOOOO HOOO!" and fireworks shoot off on either side of the runway.

The only Nextel one I see is the "What if deliver drivers ran the world?" Roadies was a new one on me. I like it! Wish they would do something like that for the PCS side of the network instead of the stick in the mud black & white ones. hmm.gif Or hey... bring back Trench Coat Guy!!

They did and I saw some of that too. They are also so cute. A few of them appeared to be a bit scared.

I missed the Puppy Bowl this year since I no longer pay to watch tv.  My girls wanted to go over to my dad's so they could watch it on his 60 inch plasma.....they were going to send him to his bedroom to watch the football game on the little 19 inch regular tv.  Yeah, good luck with that girls!! giggle.gif

It sounds like people in Tucson got one of those banned commercials:

Porn interrupts Super Bowl TV coverage
Arizona fans tuning in for climax of American football season get 30-second view of Club Jenna cable channel

Since Janet Jackson's bejewelled right nipple popped out during the half-time show at the 2004 Super Bowl, the term "wardrobe malfunction" has become part of the rich history of American football's showpiece event.

Yesterday, as this year's clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals neared a thrilling climax, TV viewers in Tuscon, Arizona, witnessed an intimate exposure of a completely different order.

Shortly after 7.30pm, with less than three minutes to play in a tightly fought final, the Cardinals had taken the lead with a crucial touchdown. Fans watching in Arizona would have been forgiven for scenting a victory for their team against the odds. Then the pictures from Tampa disappeared.

Instead, viewers in the Tuscon area were astonished to see a woman unzipping a man's trousers to reveal "full male nudity" followed by what was described as "a graphic act" between the couple. Somehow, the feed from Super Bowl XLIII had been mixed up with a 30-second excerpt from Club Jenna, an adult cable TV channel featuring Jenna Jameson, one of America's most famous porn actresses.

"I just figured it was another commercial until I looked up," Cora King, of Marana, told the Arizona Daily Star newspaper. "Then he did his little dance with everything hanging out."

Another viewer, Jeanene Piek, said she was outraged that her granddaughter had seen the clip. "I was in a state of shock. I am totally disgusted," she said.

The Tucson-based KVOA-TV said it was "dismayed and disappointed" at the interruption, which affected viewers taking a cable feed from Comcast, a cable television company.

"KVOA will investigate what happened and make sure our viewers get answers," said the company president, Gary Nielsen. "When the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas there was no pornographic material."

Once the pictures from the Super Bowl returned, Cardinals fans did not get the climax they were looking for. The Steelers pipped them 27-23, scoring with only 35 seconds left on the clock.

I had read that this morning. They even said that the HD channel didn't get the mixed up feed.

Loved the Doritos Crystal Ball commercial. The Careerbuilder.com commerical was too real for me. hmm.gif

I thought the "Roadies" commercial was great. They let us see it on Friday before the game. I was cracking UP when I was watching it.

Most of the rest of the commercials were ho-hum. That's about all I watch during the game and I was very underwhelmed. no.gif

lmao.gif That's what I love about the Careerbuilder.com commercial. It's almost like they filmed it here at our office!
