Crazy weather! Yesterday I went to see Maranda -- She lives between OKC and Lawton. I left her place around 2:50 because the sky to the north and west was becoming quite ominous and I knew we were expecting thunder storms. As I approached the the city, switched stations to get some weather and they were talking about taking cover in the Yukon (hometown of Garth Brooks) area approaching the OKC metro -- which I had to drive through to get on the turnpike to head east to Tulsa -- and a tornado down in Edmond to the north of the city. Turns out, there were five cells of rotation going on around the same time. I was sweating bullets and strangling the steering wheel until I got on the turnpike and could see clear skies ahead. By the time I was about 10 miles out on the turnpike it was just over the metro area. So glad I didn't experience any of that tennis ball sized hail!

Thanks, y'all.

The tornadic weather was from Lawton moving north and east through OKC on to Bartlesville (home of Frank Phillips and Phillips 66). The Tulsa metro weather just got heavy rain and thunderstorms. So all was good when I got home and didn't really set in until the evening. I slept through it -- being scared sure uses up a lot of energy!

Maranda didn't get any of the really bad weather -- mostly rain.

This is just unusual for February -- especially the beginning of the month. I have to admit, though, I'm loving the 70 degree temperatures!

When I lived in Yale OK (think Chet Baker and Jim Thorpe), we had a storm come through one spring evening and I had jeans hanging on the clothesline. I looked out the back door and they were blowing straight out in the wind. I just knew I was going to be looking up the block for my jeans, but to my suprise, they were still on the line after the storm passed.
