I'll skip my rant about horrible winter-weather today (just too frustrating)
Today I'll try to get my taxes done again. To really pull it through this time - I'll try it with blackmailing myself - I only get to watch last weeks epi of 24 when taxes are done ...
@Woo and Madmema: of course I got you skittles too - was just waiting for the right time to hand them over - so here you go
@MzHartz: Thank you for sharing that recipe - sounds delicious and I LOVE strawberry shortcake .. mmhhmm .. maybe I should try to blackmail myself into doing taxes with that .....
Gotta get to praise team rehearsal. It will be an interesting day today. Our normal leader, and another guy are gone today. We've got some senior high students singing with us. I'm not sure who's actually leading though.
Actually, it's a bit of a crappy Sunday. I have to pick Erica up at the airport around 12:30 AM (actually Monday morning). That's well past my normal bed time.
Of more concern is my dog. She's starting to act like she's got a back problem again. I hope I'm wrong, or that I've caught it quick enough that they could just give her some steroids to keep it from turning into a full-blown issue.
If not the only other option will be another surgery. She had a surgery when she was two that cost nearly $3500 and an intravenous steroid treatment with a prolonged hospital stay that cost $2500 a year later. Neither of those can be an option this time. I'm sure now, five years later the prices would be even higher and I just can't justify paying that, particularly since her disease is degenerative and likely to just keep re-occurring until ever disc in her back has been operated on.
I was in the bathroom (at church) washing my hands and the soft soap dispenser was sticking. I pushed a little harder on it and then it broke loose and shot soap all the way across the counter and right on to the front of my pants. I tried to clean it up, but it still looked like I had more of a personal problem than a liquid soap problem . . . so I came home to change jeans.

Good thinking!
I'm sure you would have heard some whispers if you'd been walking around with liquid soap residue on your pants
I feel today will be lazy. Hubby is making jerky of the hot kind and our eyes are watering just at the smells of the spices. It ought to be interesting.
For whatever reason my laptop is anti-FFR this weekend so I haven't been able to enjoy as many tunes as I'd like. And with stupid car expenses we haven't been able to take this in. It figures cuz I've been thinking about the show again *sigh*
Anyway, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh man JR, I hope the vet can make her all better quickly!
I'm back from tai chi. It was sword form. I have a wooden sword because I haven't been able to get the metal sword I want. The wooden sword is a lot lighter than a metal one. In addition, it's not shaped or weighted quite right, so it feels a bit off. Also normally our classes only run for an hour, but today's was a 2 hour workshop. I got to borrow someone's good sword. Now, my wrist is jelly. It's hard to even type with my right hand.
I just got back from the emergency vet because Ellie got significantly worse throughout the day.
Looks like she's having more disc problems in her lower back. The good news is I caught it very early this time so we're hoping steroids will be enough to get her better for now.
She'll have to stop jumping and playing rough though because her back can be tweaked at anytime. Poor dog. All that's safe for her to do is lay around or lay on my lap.
Good evening everyone. I feel better today, though I'm extremely worn out and tired. I plan to go to bed early again tonight, so I'll probably be around only for JD's Underground show.
JR, sorry to hear about the back problems Ellie is having. We had a Daschund when I was a kid, and she had a lot of discs problems too. Her's would get so bad she'd be paralyzed in her hind quarters for a couple of days until the Cortisone pills & injections started working it's magic. Hope Ellie won't need another surgery.
We're back. Not sure if you all know we left but, we went to Door County WI (JD is hip to it) It was like going to Vermont, from what I've seen in White Christmas. We stayed at a century old inn. Tons of drinks, a burger for din on Friday. Breakfast, Lunch and a candlelight dinner at the Inn on Saturday. CC skiing both days. Awesome. I'll see if I can hang out tonight. As is usual, tons to do in the artroom.
Lata.

A small storm passed through on Saturday while we were at Newport Beach State Park. We skiied for about 5 miles or so. Beautiful. The roads were pretty much no visible coming back. Today, we woke up to one of the most beautiful mornings. Sunshine, fresh snow. We went to Penninsula State for 3 or so miles of skiing. I've got some pictures that I might try to load later.

I tried cross-country skiing a few weeks ago out at my brother's house. It wasn't as easy as it looked.......I didn't realize how many different muscles are involved. He told me it was just like walking in the snow.....ha, not exactly. It was fun though.
