So, spring (or sthg like it) has come to Vienna, finally :) It's not really warm but all the snow has melted and the sun is out!
As usual I am procrastinating ... it's almost noon here and I haven't even started on any of all the annoying little saturday chores (cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping ...).
To show my goodwill I'll tear myself away from the laptop right now and get moving ..
Going ...
Going to ...
On my way now ...
Ok - really off now! Enjoy your saturday, everyone!
Good morning all. I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I wish, just once, I could sleep in on a Saturday morning.
I want to go to the furniture stores today and do some comparison shopping. I'd like to get a new sleeper sofa for up at the cabin; the one we have now is getting old and isn't very comfortable for guests to sleep on when they come to visit us. I'm not sure if I want to go with a traditional sleeper sofa or a futon with coils inside of it. I have a really nice futon downstairs that I just love......I've slept on it a few times, and slept like a baby because it's so comfortable. But I also need the durability of a sofa since I'll be getting rid of the sofa bed that's currently up there. Decisions, decisions.....I'll see what they have to offer and how much it's going to cost me.
Ghost, I have a futon, but the mattress isn't very good on it. We'd really like to get a good mattress for it or a real sofa. I have a really nice TV cabinet that I need to see if I can sell to a used furniture place here, and maybe we can use part of that money to get something better. So shop for me while you're out, okay?
Speaking of shopping, I'm working at the tax office today, and I'm going to miss at least 2 sales today. The armory has a sale and flea market every so often. They're not so far away, so I might be able to get out and check it out for a bit. But the IU martial arts clubs are having a swap meet today that I'd really like to go to. I've been looking for a tai chi sword, and no one makes the really good ones anymore. Since I can't go, I'm hoping there isn't someone selling their sword there today.
Doin' my normal Saturday morning routine . . . watching backup files copy from Phoenix to New Jersey.
I may work outside a little today. We're switching from cable to "Dish" satellite. The welding shop is making me a steel bracket so I can mount the dish on the side of my ham radio tower so I don't have to poke holes in the roof. If the bracket is done, I may go get that and get the dish mounted today. Then I can get the cable pulled like I want it rather than what is fastest for him.
Morning all! Its still snowing here. I peeked outside a bit ago and it looks like we have maybe 2 or 3 inches on the ground already. The grass is covered. Guess I will be spending part of my day clearing the driveway and the front walk.
My oldest son called earlier and he might be coming up for the day. That would be really nice. I hope he can. He lives way out in the country in southwest Missouri where it is also snowing. He says they have about 5 inches so far.

Yep, cold. I watched the craziest movie last night. Not sure why I brought it home but, it was a kick. Black Cat White Cat. It was all subtitled but crazy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Cat,_White_Cat I tried to stay awake for some "gazebo" time with the neighbors... I was socked by 11:45pm and didn't think walking next door to have some drinks until 2am was a good idea. Glad I didn't. Tonight, dinner at Meritage and a movie (Slum Dog Millionaire) at the Times Cinema. Take it easy all y'all.

almost done with the usual saturday chores. then i'm off to town to pick up a few groceries. I let Mr. DS decide what our meal before the big kick-off would be, and he decided a big 'ol jucey buffalo burger with sharp chedar cheese and green chile, and zesty fries. I added macaronni and tomatoes and fried okra.
Tulsa metro weather is sunny and cold -- we did not get the fluries -- YAY!
Y'all have a great weekend!

I got the satellite dish mounted on my tower and the cable ran inside. Now all the satellite installer has to do is put the LNB on the dish and align it.
Then I totally redid my network between the main floor and the basement. I used to have the modem and wireless here on the main level. I moved that all to the basement and I ran me an ethernet cable up from the basement so I can plug my laptop in to a hard wire. There will be two advantages to this, when the wireless acts flaky, I will still have internet. Plus, my wireless maxes out at 3 megs. My internet is 7 megs. Now that I'm plugged in, I'm running a little over 6 megs internet speed. Not bad.
Now, when I add another device that needs internet, It will be easy to pull another cable up to that said device.
Well I didn't have much luck at the furniture stores today. I saw lots of sleeper sofas, but not a single futon anywhere! The store we bought our's from 4 years ago is no longer in business here. I know the name of the company that made the frame and also the name & brand of the mattress, so I'm gonna hunt around on the internet and see if I can find one exactly or similar to what I have right now.
I stocked up on some low-fat and no-fat products for myself today since we start our program tomorrow. I treated myself to fattening, 3 cheese homemade lasagna along with garlic bread for dinner tonight.
My husband makes bacon fried rice, which I love, but I won't be eating any of that during the next 25 weeks. He coats his rice with bacon grease. Some Chinese places use peanut oil, which in moderation, isn't too bad.
