I am struggling this week but don't know why, been eating well, doing some exercise but it's just not happening for some reason but will keep at it, the weight has to start droping soon....
oh and well done Pip, thats some good work, keep it up.
Man, you guys are making me look bad with all your work and dedication! Last year I started walking 2.5 miles at lunch every day and lost 9 pounds in 6 months, but then it all came back in the second half of last year when health trouble sidelined me. I plan to do the same walking here as soon as it stops being so freakin' cold! I'm not good at changing my diet much, and the weights are packed away in a box.... When spring comes I'll get more exercise though playing otuside with the kids, so that has to count for something, right?
I had to laugh at the boy . . . the night before last, Mrs Web watched one of the Richard Simmons DVDs we just got that she didn't have on VHS before. The boy was making fun of them, and he'd jump up and do one bit of one song and say "This is SOOOOOO EASY!"
Well, last night, he decided to do it with mom. After about the 5th song, he was a huff'n and puff'n and decided that maybe it was a little harder to do than he thought.
Yes, I know its really gay . . . and I know most anyone would feel pretty silly doing it, but I think it would acutally be kind of a fun way to get some aerobic exercise in if you didn't have better methods. They use lots of fun music. I can see that they would work if you just do them once a day.
You can get all four DVD's on Ebay for about $40.00. With all four DVD's you wouldn't get bored doing the same one over and over.
Spend $40, close the curtains, and take 45 minutes a day movin' to some fun music. It would be better than nothing.
Those Richard Simmons tapes do help people, no matter how silly you look doing them. I've got a couple of Jane Fonda aerobic tapes somewhere around here, but I'm not using those right now......I'm gonna stick with my bike riding and weight machine for a while. Yesterday afternoon I rode at 16 mph, and did 8 miles in 30 minutes. When I get bored with doing just a straight ride, then I'm gonna start spinning on it.
It was a spice cake of some kind, and it was a small piece, and it was REALLY good . . . but I feel so dirty now.
I've let you guys down.
Otherwise, I had a sloppy joe sammich, a big helping of jello with fruit in it, a few baby carrots, and a little salad. Man, that salad was good but I didn't take very much. I've never had it before . . . it was Fritos corn chips, real corn, shredded cheese, and then something to make it all moist. The chips were just moist (yes, I said "moist") enough to not be crunchy, but yet they were still firm. Wow, that was good, but since I saw it had the Fritos and cheese in it, I just had a little to taste it.
Good, then no one will have a problem with me today.... I went for my walk at lunch, which is good, but as part of my walk I stopped at McDonald's and got a Shamrock shake, which I guess is no so good.... I love them, and they're only once a year, so I had too!
I joined up this weekend too! I will be ready to post my struggles soon I hope. But I have had a great week with food and exercise. It is going to be in the high 70s this weekend, so Ruby and I will get some walking in and my garden will get some lovin! I bought a new pair of running shoes Saturday that are itching to get abused! The week is always easy for me though, it is the weekend that I struggle with.....
Yeah I had a great food week and it paid off yesterday. I took Ruby for a 2.6 mile walk, cleaned the in and outside of my van, did all the laundry, weeded the garden and sprayed the sidewalks, pruned my trees and did the normal house work. I did some weight training this morning and will do 5.2 miles with Ruby when I get back from a birthday party with Emily. It is 80 today though gonna sweat for sure. Just bought another week of healthy food and I am psyched! Lost almost 5 pounds this week and .5 in my thigh. I have really slacked off on exercise and started eating white carbs over the last few months. I gained 15 pounds since last summer and I want it off.
My biggest struggle is to not reach for carbs when the stress gets to me. Lil debbie's will not make the boy keep his curfew and too much wine will not keep my husband from slipping. I have my own demon and I am trying to fight him with exercise and good food that fuels my body.
My struggle has been a yo yo pattern for years. I was 110 in high school, but exercised regularly and ate everything. After Zach-when I gained 50 lbs, I averaged 115. After Emily- another 50 pounds, I averaged 120. But somehow I hit 165 September 2007. I took the 50 pounds off in about 6 months last year and maintained for the most part- averaging 115-125. But now I was 135 and on the upward swing. I am at 129 today and would be happy to see and stay at 120. My goal is to hit that by Easter.... I know what I need to do. I just need to do it no matter what else goes on in my life!
I think "26 weeks" sounds funny . . . and "26 weeks" could also be "6 months" or "1/2 a year".
At first, it was just a number I picked. *shrug*
Now, I think an "odd" number helps keep focus on the week-by-week and one week at a time aspect. It can't easily get turned into "6 Months" or anything else. I think it remaining a weekly thing helps keep the focus on a small, repeatable, goal rather than the bigger, daunting task of "6 months".
I don't think "25 weeks" sounds as intimidating as "6 Months".
I plan to continue with an additional 25 weeks too, even if I hit my goal weight. I think the additional weeks will really help me maintain whatever loss I have at the end of this one.
I hope there will be enough interest to keep it going once we're done with these first 25 weeks.
