Ok, another good step forward, I set up the system to add one song every hour to the cue, it will be the song that has NOT been played in the longest time out of the entire 5600 song library!
Also, once per hour (half an hour after the above mentioned song) the system will add the LEAST PLAYED song from the regular playlist. The regular playlist is about 1400 hit songs that we play when nothing is being requested.
These two combined should help to mix up the rotation a bit. I tested them over the weekend and they are working great, so i think everything is all set.
Let me know if you notice the odd songs getting played every so often! If we like this, I can increase the frequency (or decrease it).
I've been listening for a while today and I gotta say that the rotation has been noticeably better. In fact, it's interrupting my work. I keep stopping to pull up the playlist so I can see who is singing the song. Ah, the price we pay for quality radio.
I think the added obscure song every hour and the added less-played-hit every hour will make the station more enjoyable for everyone. It's always nice to hear something different once in awhile.
I have really enjoyes the mix on the station lately. Even late last week the was a wider variety. I enjoy hearing different songs. No matter how much you enjoy a certain set or type of songs, they can become old. I think everyone does a nice job of mixing it up.
