Happy Retirement John Madden

I just saw it on the news creeper that John Madden has decided that it is time to retire. It's hard to imagine football without him... he has been broadcasting for 30 years. Now who is going to draw the endless yellow lines and circles all over the replays?

I had no idea he was going to retire. You are right about not hearing his voice. Now I have to adjust for baseball and some football.

Maybe they will hire me. I know how to draw circles and lines. nod.gif

And then boom! he made the guy miss and broke free down the sideline.

quite an institution. but the last few years, it was getting a bit drivelly and drooly during the broadcasts. thank you for being a great part of the football experience.

Anyone of us can take the job and point out the obvious in a game.

I'm sure I would have a good time drawing on the tele-strator. nod.gif

As he would say...

"Now you probably won't hear me call games anymore because I won't be here. I'll be somewhere else, other than here. That's how retirement works. oh yeah... BOOM!"

smile.gif

I always loved how he'd make the most obvious observations. smile.gif (The team that scores the most points is gonna win the game)

He'll be missed, but I'm glad he's going to enjoy his golden years with his family. Smart man.

lol he was sooo getting on g-gals nerves when we were watching football because of that. laughing.gif

"You need to keep the ball moving forward. And I tell you, if you keep the ball moving forward, you'll eventually score a touchdown.

You need to keep posession of the ball if you want to win the game.

If you don't protect the quarterback, he's going to get sacked."

very much like back when John McGlauglin would call the televised Bucks games. That would drive my buddy Ron absolutely nuts.

"If you've got a man in the clear, you pass the ball to him and then cover your man so the guy you passed the ball to can make the shot."

lol ron would be purple....

lol. Those were all great examples JD.

Sometimes I'd watch the game and think to myself "did he REALLY just say that?"

You could even tell once in awhile by the awkward silence that would follow a comment that Al Michaels was dumbfounded. smile.gif

how about that season (or 2?) they let Dennis Miller be a commentator, with his William of Orange rants etc. That was nothing short of awkward....disbelief
