Lunch, weather and favorite picnic foods.

Leftover steak from last night.

65 and sunny, tue 75 wed 77 thur 80! yes 80 after three blizzards this month we get to 80 again.

I'm going to take little A on a picnic tomorrow...and what is your favorite thing to eat on a picnic. I have been eating sammiches everyday and would really like something different. I cant think of anything other than fried chicken....I would rather have something she can help prepare. (keep her busy for more than ten minutes to eat)

Hey AC smile.gif

How about a nice tuna noodle salad.

potatoe salad maybe?  3 bean salad?

Or you could just have her help to push the cart as you go through the deli biggrin.gif

Lunch will be leftover ribs from last night.

It's gloomy, raining, and will be around 56 degrees today. It's supposed to be pretty depressing this week, but get nicer as the week goes along.

For a picnic I like to bring finger foods. Lunchmeat, crackers, cheese, (wine), and such. You could do those lunchmeat rolls with the cream cheese in the middle, A could help with that. And I'm sure she'd get a kick out of a fruit pizza.

Lunch will be with the new boss. I don;t know where to take him. And on top of it, I don't wanna. I hate leaving the building during the workday. Plus, it is raining.

Rainy and 50 (at the most). Supposed to be that way through Wednesday morning.

Hmmm. Been forever since I have been on a picnic, so I don't have much of an answer.

FRIED OKRA SALAD

1 sm. or med. size pkg. frozen breaded okra
1 lb. bacon
2 lg. or 3 med. tomatoes
1 bunch of green onions (chives)
2 lg. or 3 med. bell peppers
Garlic salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Onion salt to taste
(If you don't like garlic or onion salt use season salt or lemon pepper)
2 to 3 c. shortening for frying okra

Fry 1 pound bacon, cut in 1/2 strips. Fry until done. Drain about 1/4 cup of bacon grease or little less if you prefer. Put bacon grease aside. Leave remainder of grease in pan and add shortening. Fry your okra until done. After okra has been cooked, drained of all oil, place in large bowl. For making salads, your bacon should be to the side. then cut up all your vegetables, bell pepper, tomatoes, green onion, chopped up finely and diced. Once vegetables are chopped add to fried okra, then crumble 1 pound of cooked bacon onto mixture and pour bacon grease that you put aside over salad. Then add seasonings to taste and mix well. Ready to serve.

I don't pour the bacon grease over the salad.
Try it, you'll like it smile

the picnic went ok...we ended up not being able to have it in the location of her choice, there were way to many people. So we went to the park instead..ate..played and then flew kites. All in all it was a good day.
