E85 fuel

I don't know if you guys have ever heard of E85 fuel, but it's great.  It's 85% ethanol (which is made out of corn that OUR farmers grew) and 15% gas.  Some cars will run on it.  If you have a car with an FFV in it, you can use E85.  The best part about it?  It's about 30 cents cheaper than gas.  My sister-in-law has a minivan that runs on it and she paid $1.65 a gallon for gas the other day, while I had to pay $2.18. That's a big difference.  You have to make sure that your vehicle can use it, though.  And you have to find a gas station that has it.  You can go to www.E85fuel.com to see if your car runs on it and also where to find a gas station that sells it.  You can also look inside your gas door or in your owners manual.  I also have contacted my local senator to try and get a law passed that says that every car that is sold in the U.S. must have an FFV in it.  The cost of having an FFV installed prior to purchase is minimal and in most cases, doesn't mark the vehicle up at all.  I think this is a great way to get us to give money to our farmers and less to foreign oil suppliers.  The senator seemed very interested and I'm hoping that this goes somewhere.  Just thought you guys might like to know about this.  I wish that we had known about this before we purchased our van and truck.  We are one year shy of being able to use this on both vehicles.  We have a 97 van and a 2003 truck, but 98 was the year they started for my van and 2004 was the year they started for my truck.  Bummer.  Oh, well.  Almost time for a new van and next time I'm getting an FFV.  There is a gas station that sells it on the corner by where I work.  Hope this helps someone.

Wait a minute...an easily renewable resource mixed with only 15% gas, and it STILL costs nearly $2 a gallon??? That just doesn't seem right.

They had a promotion here to garner interest in it and they sold it for 85 cents a gallon for a day.  I still think it's great that it was over 50 cents cheaper than regular gas.  Usually it averages about 30 cents cheaper than regular gas.  If I fill my tank up with it, I save over $3.  Doesn't sound like much, but it adds up.  I drive 150 miles to work round trip.  That makes a big difference in a month or even a week's time.

I leave at 4:30 a.m. and get home around 4:45 p.m.  Sometimes later, depending on traffic in St. Louis.  I wouldn't drive so far, but the job pays really well and I love it.  I also get the added perk of working with my dad.  The drives with him are the best.  I enjoy getting to talk to him for about 3 hours a day.

hey thats nice you can spend that kind of quality time with your dad- but wow you have a LOOOONG DAY!

I want to be one of those people who can get up that early in the morning and have some quality quiet morning time before going to work, but its JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! (probably because I am usually up till 12:30 rocking out to Freeze Frame...!)

I'm lucky in one aspect.  I don't require a lot of sleep.  I average about 3 hours of sleep a night.  5 at the most.  Much more than that and I don't function well.  It actually makes me more tired.  So I usually stay up until around 11 or 12 cleaning house and walking and then go to bed and get up at 3:30 a.m.

When I worked for the same company I work for now out of my home I had it a lot rougher.  The nature of proofreading is that it's feast or famine.  Sometimes I would get a 1500 page book and they would say that they needed it in a week.  At 8 pages an hour, that doesn't work very well.  I can go for 48 hours without sleep and be all right, but any longer than that and I can't function.  After it was all over, I would sleep for about 10 hours and be back to normal.  I'm kind of glad that I work just the 8 hour shift now.  Even so, I have a fierce loyalty to work and if they need me to I have taken work home on the w/e's and worked 18 hours straight on it.  Deadlines are deadlines.  They have forced me to scale back now, though.  My boss doesn't allow me to take work home on the w/e's now unless it is an extreme emergency.

I'm the same way.  I currently have 2+ jobs.  During the day, I work for a charity doing patient campaign work and marketing projects.  I have a deadline coming up for a website project, so last week I worked a lot of overtime.  I also work some evenings and weekends as the assistant manager and webmaster at a spa.  I also do graphic design jobs on the side.  And finally, I'm a Pampered Chef consultant, although I don't do much with that.  (I still haven't met my 6 show commitment and I started in September.)  I consider the charity job my main job, and it is definately my favorite.  And, at the office, I'm Ms. Dependable: I've never called in sick, and so far I've only taken one vacation day.  I'm also married, but luckily I don't have kids.  So sleep?  Who has time for sleep?

You are one busy woman, Mz!  I hope you take your vitamins.    I admire you for your work for charity.  That is great.  Of course, we knew you were good, you're here aren't you?
