Our Pal- Ultimo

I still think its sooo cool that we have this many people coming together regularly on the forum from all over the US to see what we're all up to. But when I think of Ultimo checking in from the other side of the Atlantic, that's just too cool. Sure, the station has a world-wide audience, but Ultimo is our European pen-pal (er....post-pal?) He makes it seem like its a small world, even tho he's AN OCEAN away. God bless the internet. Plus he is usually the first post each day, cuz he is checking in when its like 3 am (or so) over here.

LOL one day I was having trouble sleeping, it was 4 am, so I was just checking out the posts, and there was Ultimo going HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP ITS 4 am!?!?!. I was getting scolded from across the ocean!

I agree JD, the connection across the globe is one of the coolest things about the internet.

I also think it's amazingly cool to see how many "transplanted" cheeseheads there are that tune in and in some cases post on the forum.

Kind of a neat way to stay connected to Milwaukee regardless of where you live now.

Wow I get my own thread, thats truly an honour, thanks JD & Jeremy, and right on cue heres my early morining post to start the day off.

Glad to be bringng a British point of view to the station, but as you say im sure im not the only british or european listner, just a shame we dont have some forum members from over here. Well anyway better get some work done.

Catch you all later when you get up!!!

I second or third the sentiments.  It's pretty cool hearing points of view from someone outside the U.S.  Although it's a big world it's so easy getting absorbed into the local and national events.  It's  nice to have a fresh voice from across the pond.  Heck, anyone from the country that gave us the Young One's can't be all bad!!!!

Half the time I forget there's an ocean between us!  So Ultimo, what brought you here?  Do you prefer American music?

Plus, British accents are so sexy!

Hey Ultimo, I've HEARD of Bangors & Mash before, but I can't recall what they are.  I know I knew it ONCE, but you know how it is, new information comes in and you have to delete the old information from the ol' brain cells.

I knew what they were, I just didn't see the post till now.  I love things that are British.  Duran Duran, etc.  My date for prom was even British and I loved his name, Dominick.  I once had a friend bring me back some toffee from England and it was the best I have ever had.

A bubbler is a water fountain.

So which is it, soda or pop?

I got the biggest kick out of Dominick wanting to bring his umby along.  He asked me "Should I bring my umby?" and I thought, "What the heck is that?".  Is that a regular thing, Ultimo, or is that unusual?  Anyone know what it is?

You guys lost me on the umby thing but I call it pop and I'm from the midwest.  Everyone here in Florida thinks that's hilarious.

It is an umbrella.  I have hear bumbershoot before, as well.  We have things like that over here.  When I was living in Arkansas, they had words for things that we called something totally different.  A good example (well, I don't know about GOOD, but anyway) is marvin.  If you have a marvin in Arkansas it's what we call a wedgie here.  The first time I heard that I about died.
