Wow. This is probably the first new thread I've started in about two weeks.
Anyway, I bought my first HD antenna yesterday and I'm really impressed. Has anyone else made the jump?
I know most people probably have cable or satellite so they have no need for an HD antenna, but I'm kind of hoping that during non-baseball season I might be able to go cable-free.
I already knew that when it comes to digital TV you either get a perfect picture or no picture at all. That's exactly what I wound up with. All of the channels (and there's about 30 free ones available in my area) are absolutely perfect and in full HD. What an amazing step up over the old rabbit ears!
COOL! I'd get one if I didn't have satellite. I have the same deal for the most part... either perfect picture or no picture. Sometimes it does just lock up on one choppy picture, but mostly it is an all or none proposition.

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
We had a regular antenna, but we had the problem of sometimes getting choppy reception when we watched the digital channels. We recently bought an HD antenna, and have had very few problems since then.
I don't think we have any HD channels within range of us here . . . stoopid country livin'.
We were losing HD channels on our DISH. Our local guy thought that we might be just a little behind one of our trees for that satellite and that the leaves coming on was just enough to block it. So, we pointed the dish the other direction at different satellites and have had perfect HD signals since.
How did we survive before HD?
Last night, I sat up until 2:00 am watching the cage fighting guys bleed in HD. HD bleeding is so much better than SD bleeding.
I've got my converter box and antenna ready to go, I just haven't hooked it up yet. I don't think my tv has been on, with the exception of watching dvds, since the superbowl when the stones performed at half-time.
