It is hard to tell. MSNBC is claiming that their source is the LA Times which is citing the Fire. Police, and EMS units that reported to the scene of where he collapsed. They say he was not breathing and was unresponsive, but still alive.

I just read that and came here to see if anyone else had seen it yet. I can't believe it! When I first read it, I thought it was another jab at him for some new antics. Wow.
RIP Michael!! Thank you very much for all the wonderful music you put out along with all those amazing dance moves we tried so hard to copy and also for your fantastic concerts that I was able to go to!! You were indeed a Thriller in the music world!
MTV has been playing <gasp> music videos today from Michael Jackson.
From the opening moments of Billie Jean, with Michael walking down the rain soaked sidewalk I am transported to my aunt Roseannes living room where I can distinctly remember watching the video with my cousin while the adults played cards in the kitchen.
The first few beats of Thriller take me back to sitting in this exact spot as I am now (my Mom's living room) while it played on MTV back in the 80's. My Mom actually taking interest in the video I was watching (something that was pretty rare).
The first notes of BEAT IT take me back to the days of seeing the first few seconds of that video back in the eighties when I'd wonder if it was Michaels version or actually Weird Al's "Eat It". Of course it would only take a few seconds to find out. Either way all was good.
The Thriller album is full of warm, fuzzy feelings of childhood for me. It's truly sad to lose MJ, but his music will always bring up those memories for me and for that I'll be eternally grateful.
The entire music industry was so different back then. I don't believe we'll ever see another musical superstar at the level of MJ.
I hugged my sister and told her "Part of my childhood has died" She said that I was the first person she thought of when she heard the news. I never got to attend a concert but I was such a fan! Watched videos all the time, tried to do the moonwalk to no avail, posters all over my wall. Actually I think he was the first celebrity that adorned those walls. I admitted to my in-laws how I had the Thriller video memorized and could do the moves while just listening to the song on the radio. *sigh* I of course liked the non creepy version of MJ but I you could NEVER overlook his talent. So sad and now there will be the drama over his estate/children.

Aside from his bizarreness and (alleged) pedophilia he was really an amazing singer and performer. He always took "publicity stunt" to the max, and when I first heard that he had a heart attack, that's what I thought it was...

That is because he, as we all know, is an alien who went back home. He just shows up at random rural gas stations every now and again to keep attendance at Graceland up.

It's sad that he's gone - he was an amazing talent as a musician, song writer and performer. As weird and eccentric as he was, I always respected that and thought of MJ as an icon of my youth. RIP...

Aww... Janet and Joe Jackson both appeared at the BET Awards last night. Janet made an emotional plea for the public to remember that Michael was a member of their family and is dearly missed by all of them. Joe pimped for his new recording company.

It was odd seeing my 14 year old so upset by MJ's death. This boy is a rap music fanatic & I watched him watching MJ videos on Thursday & Friday. It was nice seeimg him paying homage to the man because of his music.
