I have to say that yesterday, my son, Jake won the Idiot of the Day Award.
We live out in the counrty, so it's no big thang for the boys to stand off the porch in the mornings and pee if the mood so strikes them. In saying that, his story is as follows. He finally got out of bed late morning (11:00), went to the back porch to relieve himself, turned around to go back into the house only to find he'd locked himself out. The only thing he has on is his basketball shorts -- no shirt, no shoes (no service). He proceeds to try the other doors -- locked; all the windows he can reach -- locked; Luckily he finds his mowing shoes on the back porch, so he walks up the drive (.25 mile) to each of the neighbors (we know) in hopes of using the phone to call me and tell me what an idiot he is, but none of them are home. Now, he decides to walk to some friends he knows -- another 2 miles and no one home. Then he doubles back another mile before he decides to walk to, yet, another friends house -- three maybe four, more miles away, across the highway. Fortunately she was home. Yesterday, the temp was over 100 and there is a spare key to the house in a hidey hole -- he is the one who picked out the hidey hole last year...

DS: Just FYI, I printed off your story about Jake and gave it to Mrs Web. She took it to work and passed it around there. Several gals with teenagers said they could relate.
I rarely listen to the local radio station any more. Today, I decided to listen in to the morning show and see what is going on.
As typical for the morning show, they have local businesses come in for spots (ads) to let every one know what is going on. Today, they had the Subway manager talking about what is going on at Subway.
In the chat, one of the DJ's said "I felt like an idiot the other day in your store. I asked what kind of breads I could pick from and the lady that was helping me pointed at the bread display ad that was about 10" from my nose".
The Subway lady said, "oh thats normal, we get that kind of thing all the time." and she went on to tell a couple stories of idiot customers. The first one I don't remember, but the second one was "A customer was ordering and we asked if he wanted the six inch or footlong and he said: the short one."
Yeah, that guy was an idiot.

While listening to the small town local radio station today, the Subway lady was on the radio and she told a couple stories of admittedly stupid things that customers have done.
While I can understand that dealing with idiots is frustrating, you don't go on your local radio station and talk about "idiot" customers. That is just basic business/public relations 101. There is a good chance the people she was talking about were listening. What an idiot.

Makes me glad that I'm not alone... But then almost scared that there's more like him out there.

There aren't tickets to be had anyway. They are very hard to come by unless you have the loot to put out for them. Fans may shun him now, but if he has to play and he plays well, they will conveniently forget about everything he did.
I never really thought he was a good quarterback. He is a good athlete. I say you get him a pass in the backfield and let him run.

I wonder if the Eagles signing Vick makes them a candidate for idiots of the day.
I was watching the Steelers pre season game last night and they had an add from the ASPCA about animal cruelty with the video seemingly being focused on dogs. I don't think I've ever seen an ASPCA add during a football game before. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen many ASPCA ads in general.
I highly doubt that it was just a random ad at that time.
