Today would be "survey results day". It ought to be interesting. If there was a good participation rate we were promised a pizza party. The participation rate was 91%. And I know of at least three people that were on vacation or the rate would have been higher. We went from having a pizza party to have lunch up the street. And the results were to be released a week ago. The chatter I heard wasn't good. A lot of people feel the same way. I guess they are trying to find a way to spin everything or hopefully are trying to decide what to do about it. And they want us all in the same room so they can present everything to us.
Gee, look at the mess I started.

Howdy folks. Finally able to check in. Had to take care of the NEEDY ONE straight away. He'll be back; he's like a bad penny.
So, last night around 10ish, I'm standing on my back porch looking out across my yard and I see, what at first I presumed to be a cat because of the bushy tail. But as is made it's way out from behind a tree, I determine, because of it's size, that it's actually a racoon. Then I see a smaller one scurry down from the same tree... then another.... then another. Hey! That's enough coonskin caps for my whole family! (Just Kidding)
Smiles everyone! smiles!

I'm in favor of bringing back Arrested Development. I loved that show. Still wouldn't vote for Obama in 2012 but I'd be impressed by the accomplishment none the less.
Day two of my vacation. I got a ton of stuff done yesterday. Today I think will just be a lazy day around the house working on a few projects. I've been making my own DVD copies of the TV show LESS THAN PERFECT. I spent two months taping them then editing them onto DVD. Now I'm making nice labels and covers. It's a lot of time to spend on such a thing, but it's one of my all time favorite TV shows and because it only lasted three and a half years I doubt it will ever be put on DVD, so I took matters into my own hands.
I'm also still trying to decide how to decorate the walls of my apartment. Might have to take a trip to Target to find some stuff.

Good luck to you with that, Fuzzy. If it is anything like the survey we used to take, your meeting will go something like this: Okay, here's the results. Now, we are going to work on the top 3 complaints that actually look fixable. No, everyone is not getting a raise or more days off. So with that in mind, we think we can make a positive impact in these three areas: _____, _______, ______. Since you guys are unhappy about these things we need you to come up with the answers as to how to fix them and a timeframe in which they can be fixed. You can't spend any company money to do this. We will expect you to form teams with stated objectives and report your results back to management as you go along. Remember, we are holding YOU accountable for fixing your unhappiness.

Hey JR, do you have a Hobby Lobby by you? They usually have pretty cheap home decor stuff, especially when they're running a sale.
I don't know, it sounds familiar though. I'll check them out on the web and see if they have a location nearby. Thanks for the tip.
For the bedroom I'm going with a music theme (surprise, surprise) since I have a lot of framed music stuff already. I still have that Gold Album from Meatloaf and I've been eyeing up a ZZ Top Eliminator one to go with it.
The living room though I figured should be a little nicer. (NOT THAT MUSIC THEMES AREN'T NICE!!! Don't beat me up LS!!! )
Well, lunch went okay. They gave us a slide show presentation of the results. I know you can't make all the people happy all of the time. We shall see what comes out of it.
On a side note, they split us up into groups to discuss a few issues that seem to be common throughout the survey. Lucky me, I get to discuss the noise stuff (cell phones, speakerphones, whitenoise). I end up in the group with a few people that sit around me, most notably the big speakerphone offender that I have complained about on a regular basis. So that comes up and this guy is discussing it saying he didn't think it was an issue. I am sort of shaking my head with a slight giggle, staring at one of the other girls who sits near us because she knows exactly what I am thinking. He turns to me and says, "You don't notice a problem in our area with it do you?" I couldn't help myself. I laughed at him and then said, "Bill, you do it all the time. For Pete's sake, you even call into your voicemail on speakerphone." He honestly had no idea.

That is why he didn't notice that it was a problem. He isn't bothering himself! He's probably one of those people who believes he has a "cone of silence" over his cubicle.

He gets it now. He seemed surprised. But then again, this is the guy who was against open space from the beginning. He is the corporate collections manager and is usually on conference calls. In the old building he had an office so he could close the door and make his calls. Around here you have to hunt to find a room to make those calls. I think he was used to doing all his calls on speakerphone, even when he called customers. He could do that then, but not now.
It also shows that he didn't or couldn't hear my random comments when he would dial on speakerphone.

I know he didn't. After I called him on it (I felt about it in front of so many people), he pledged to resolve it. He also keeps telling me "You were my friend." He was pulling his own funny by leaving himself a voicemail that said, "Scratch TL off my Christmas list." He was then going to dial in andf play it. Except I spoiled his fun by hearing him leave the voicemail to himself.
I am headed to Costco on the way home tonight and I have to pick up candy for the jar. I will just pick a few minitures and leave them on his desk.

What is also interesting is that 160 individuals have completed a performance appraisal. And 151 have had them discussed. I am one of those 9 who has not had the discussion of the review.

Too funny! Hey... just thought of a prank for him. You could wait until he is out of the office and then call his desk phone from several phones around the office and leave random messages in his voicemail. Pambo and I did that one night to our early shift guy. He was always fussing about having voicemails first thing in the morning. We must have left him 20 messages from different phones. Even got a few other people to do "guest voices" pranks.
