While I've been sick, my husband has been phenomenal. He's kept the kitchen clean, done my chores for me, and last night he even made me some homemade spaghetti sauce (which also let me put off grocery shopping for another day).
Normally, I thank him in favors of one type or another, cooking or baking him something, or other stuff. (You know what I mean.) But I'm still a little bit under the weather, so I don't think anything like that would be a good idea. I just don't have the energy yet, and I don't want to get him sick.
I know what he would do for me, he'd pick or buy me flowers.
So guys, what would you want? Would store bought cookies be good?
Although a good idea in theory, I'm not sure it would work in our particular case. He doesn't find going out to dinner as fun when I can't have anything there. But perhaps I could order takeout.
At the very least, make sure you TELL him how much you appreciate his efforts. That means a lot in and of itself.
As far as a gift, my typical male mind's first thought was that if you aren;t up for the 'other stuff' right now, you could give him a rain check, or a coupon, or something like that, good for one round of the other stuff at any later date and time of his choosing. 'Course, if he's getting the other stuff on a more regular basis than I am, that might not be as appealing a gift to him as it would be to me!
Anyway, with you graphic artist skills, I'm sure you could make up a nice gift certificate for that!
Otherwise, food is always good, but I can;t really come up with anything. Really, just knowing that you will happily be there to pick up the slack for me next time I am sick or down is gift enough for me.
Oh, I've given him many hugs and "I love you baby, thank you so much"s. And I know I don't *have* to give him something, but he wouldn't be expecting it, so I want to get him something.
Maybe something along the line of what Murs said but a slight twist. Maybe you make the certificate for a picnic in the park, then a walk, maybe followed by some ice cream or something similar that you two don't do often. Something like that won't cost much and he wouldn't have to worry about what you will be able to eat.
