Bump for the new members, Woo, TN girl, Disco, Earl etc.!

hi, thumper.  i'm somewhere in that crazy thread too.  but to sum me up, i live in the 918.  married two and 1/2 kids & a dog  (one kid is in college -- she's the 1/2), live in the sticks (sapulpa area), no livestock.  my life is quite mundane except for the little bit of excitement my 13 year old stirs up just make sure i'm still alive, but it's gonna be the 3 year old that turns my hair green...  lately, i'm just one tired mother...

I hate looking through some of these threads because it's a reminder of how many cool members we've lost

How long will it be before you all leave us too! Will your replacements be as much fun? I hate change! (actually I love change, but this isn't the GOOD KIND! )

I DEMAND ALL FORMER MEMBERS RETURN IMMEDIATELY!!!!

For those who want to know more about cheeselvr- let me start with why I chose that name- I guess I like cheesey 80s music a little too much. Other than that, I am 31, married, like in the SW burbs of Chicago, graduated from DePaul in 98 with a major in Urban Studies....I have a 1 yr old daughter, work in management in downtown Chicago for a large healthcare membership association that forces me to drink lots of espresso at Starbucks every morning to cope. I love cats (just like a few others of you seem to)....I serve on a school board in my community, I'm fairly conservative, love convertibles, my friends, and i LOVE ffr. U got me hooked!

Well we're glad to hear that you're hooked! And I'm RIGHT THERE WITH YOU on the Cheesy 80's songs (although I secretly hoped you chose Cheeselvr because you loved the Cheese State )

I'm still bummed you lost your listening rights at work. I used to look forward to my Friday morning email asking for a 3-fer. I really got a kick out of when you started emailing Thursday night to ask in advance for a Friday 3-fer.

THAT'S when I KNEW we had you hooked

hey- a true cheeselvr wouldn't on'y pick that name if all they loved was cheesey 80s music....i do love swiss, sharp cheddar, brie, bleu, and soft mozzarella. I do like WI- especially the Brat Stop on the way up. We have some cheese-head relatives up there in the Wausau / Colby area that we visit on Labor Day weekend. I'm glad to char with you all. Does any one have any 80s songs to nominate as the cheesiest they've ever heard? I think Spandau Ballet is cheesy but in a good way.

I love cheese too. It's so bad for you, but it tastes sooooooooooooo good.

I think Spandau Ballet is probably the most cheesiest song of the 80's. "True" just drips with cheese.

Let's see, pretty much any ballad from REO was pure cheese, as was TOTO. Both of them are among my fav artists of the decade

You're right, Mr. Riggs. A lot of the hair metal bands have that quality, too, Especially when they use that high-pitched screech so typical of that decade. Do you think Asia is cheesey? You know what? When I used to listen at work I'd play this little game with the request list to make the day go by quicker (and more fun)...I would make requests in alphabetical order (sometimes in reverse from Z-A) either by artist or by song. SOmetimes it was a challenge to remeber where I left off so I'd say screw this- I'm requetsing whatever letter of the alphabet I want. U and Z were tough. I'd usually go with Warren Zevon and Uncle Kracker.....

Hey that is a cool idea. We should do that as a theme, have everyone do the day like that and see how it goes!

I LOVE Asia's "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" . VERY CHEESY. VERY OVER-DRAMATIC. EXCELLENT! That is one song that I will sing along to FULL BLAST pretty much wherever I am.

What I loved about Asia, besides Geoffrey Downes voice, was the HUGENESS of the songs. They just felt like huge, overblown productions. To this day I still will randomly start singing "Dig for victory, go for gold, I DON'T WANNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE BEFORE I GET OLD" which was from their last hit "Go". Don't know why, but that opening is just burrowed into my brain.

Geoffrey Downes voice? You mean John Wetton?

I'll stay too....

This reminds me I never did get round to posting in this thread when I joined...

My name is Sarah, I live with partner Mark and two daughters - now aged 10 and 13. the 13 year old has joined and her user name is Browni.

Mark and I are both civil servants here in the North West of England...

My previous job was in a supermarket filling shelves and before that I was a qualified nurse...

We both love music...me especially from the 80's...I enjoy it but don't retain any trivia in my little wooly head...Mark is the expert with music knowledge and trivia...he has a brilliant memory for that sort of thing.

My kids are into all the modern stuff - but they have discovered our music too. My 13 year old is into Nirvana and red Hot Chilli Peppers at present. The ten year old loves allsorts too
