Some of you already know me but for those of you that don't, my name is Sandy, I live in Saginaw, MI--just found out not too far from Woo!!--I'm married and have two girls; 17 and 14, and I also share my home with a black Labrador Retriever. Since I work for the school district, I get the summers off, which is great because it gives me a chance to spend some time up at our cottage. I love to read with my favorite books being The Dark Tower series by Stephen King--love Roland and his gang. Anyone else read these?? I love PS2 and have my favorite games to play in my spare time--though recently my daughters introduced me to the two Guitar Hero games and now I'm addicted to them. And I absolutely love music of almost any kind--I listen to everything from Classical (Brahms, Chopin, Mozart) right up to today's heavy metal artists--about the only stuff I don't care for is Country, Rap, and Death Metal--I consider Rap and Death Metal major ear pollution and a waste of perfectly good air waves. I found FFR through myspace, have already made a few new friends here (I think, ha) and hope to get to know more of you.
Since I have failed to post in this thread previously...I thought I should post my details in here! Excuse the length of it but just want you to know all about me!
Well I am from a small isolated town called Weipa in Far North Queensland Australia right on the tip of Cape York Peninisular in gulf country...which means crocodile country!! It is a tiny town, isolated from the rest of the country and population so I do not get to see many people up there! Just over 2000 people live there...in the whole of the tip of Queensland only 10,000 people reside within the cape scattered all over the place! So cool! I moved here to start life again and begin a new crazy adventure! So strange to be a city chick after 32 years and move to the sticks! I've been a high heel and city attire gal all my life...but that has not changed...I just blended myself in with the traditional Aussie flavoured folk much to their amusement!
I began my life on the 7th March 1974 in a small country town in New South Wales in the Hunter Valley wine country in a town called Singleton. My parents moved us to Brisbane a couple of years later where I grew up my whole life in there living in the inner city amongst the hustle and bustle of city life apart from a couple of stints of living in Sydney and on the sunny Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise!!
I'm a university graduate! I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration Management degree...and I worked for the same university for 7 years which I have now given up to move to Weipa! I loved my job but I wanted something new..and I sure have it now! I have accepted a position within the school up here...which means I get all the school holidays off...and Australian schools sure get alot of them! Yay! Means plenty of time for travel and I will be travelling all over the place! I aim to explore my country in depth and also visit overseas as much as possible as well! I cannot wait to visit the USA and UK and hope I will get to meet some of you eventually!
I am single again after 14 years...and I have been loving it! Even though I have not even looked at another person with interest in months...who has time...have been having too much fun meeting new people on myspace and through my travels! I am having a ball!
But my main interests are reading...I too am a Stephen King nut, but I enjoy my books on political satire...the Australian government offer such fodder for it! I love sketching, painting, drawing, I love all the arts really! I enjoy the beach...even though I live near the ocean now I cannot swim there due to the salt water and freshwater crocodiles inhabiting all the waterways! I love spontaneous impulsive travel and behaviour but my main passion is my love of music! I love rock, a fondness for Aussie rock, jazz, blues, funk, soul! I spent my years going out to pubs just to see live original bands on a regular basis! I support live music wholheartedly! I assisted a couple of bands with Public Relations and even appeared in one of their music video clips! The only music I cannot handle is rap, hip-hop and death metal...i do not consider this music!
Admittedly it was JD who found me via myspace a short while back and he introduced me to the wonderful group of people here at FFR and I am enjoying everyone immensely! So fantastic to meet everyone! Am going to enjoy getting to know everyone a whole lot more!
Hi Jules, I too am divorcing after 14 years of marriage. You seem to be doing well. I like the idea of life and scenery changes when life throws us a curveball. With two kids, I can't do anything quite as drastic as you, I'm thinking about a shorter cut or a change of haircolor. Maybe I'll be totally wild and sell the Ford Taurus and get a little Volkswagen Beetle or something. I think that's as out there as I could get.
