New Guinea

My husband an I compromised and got 2 little baby Guinea Pigs.  they are little girls.  they are both the smooth kind, one black, and one calico.  they don't have names yet.

this is a compromise because i've been hounding him forever that i want some cats and he wouldn't let me.  we've always had cats and when we had our son, our cat went nuts, i told about that before.  it broke his heart every time one of our cats died or we had to get rid of them.  so he just couldn't take that again.

So i've been bugging about guinea pigs then and he said ok.  now they just need names.  they are SO CUTE AND TEENEY.  i'll try to put a picture on soon.....

JennyC,

Sounds cool. We'll definately want to see those photo's when you get em.

It sounds like we're gonna have to get that "Members Only" section up and running soon so that we can have a place for all the photos and stuff that members want to share.

I had a friend in gradeschool who had guinea pigs, and whenever he went on vacation I'd take over his paper route and feed his guinea pigs. They are pretty cool creatures- I remember them liking the presence of people, and like communicating with little foot taps. Quick ones meant they were nervous, slow ones meant the food bowl was empty...

they're really vocal too.  toot tooting away.  they're pretty scared right now--they're hiding in a little box i put in their house...  It's a Kraft Easy Mac box.  i love that stuff.

how about Star AND Angela??

right now their names are Carmella and Inez.  but i don't know, that could change.  They are BRAND new and need time to adjust, but I don't know if Carmella can hang.  She won't eat.  she just sits there.  I think she'll be ok, she's really young.  she just needs love from her mother=me.

We had a Guinea pig once, his name was Nibbles, he was the loudest animal I've ever had. They have this high pitched squeel that drove me nuts. I let a friend take care of him over Christmas, he died because he wouldn't eat for anyone else and I had no way of getting back.

That's sad.  and guess what.  I brought them to work with me because i'm taking them back at lunch.  I can't keep them.  I might try in another year to get a pet.  but right now, my son is almost 3 and isn't ready to be mellow and loving.  they are babies and FREAKED OUT.  the pet store said we can try them out for 2 weeks.  I like them, but it is a stress attack i don't need....  darnit...

Hey JennyCat why don't you try a couple of goldfish?  They're nearly maintenance free and your son should be able to watch and be amused by them.  Hopefully he won't go fishing.
