Sunday and well after gametime

yawn.gif Oh look... I just woke up and the Chiefs finally scored! Apparently I missed nothing in the first quarter as the score was 0-0 when I found the game.

Oddly, I do see that it is finally sunny in KC. Wish I would have remembered to buy a new set of sunglasses yesterday.

Sunday on everyone.

Well, how the heck about that?!?! The Chiefs managed to win. WOOO HOOO! They are not going to be this season's version of last season's Lions.

Speaking of which... the Lions just got spanked by the Packers too!

Its almost into Sunday evening and I'm just getting here.

We did church, then the quarterly potluck and business meeting, then we went to the pumpkin farm.

We cooked up six bacon wrapped pork loins yesterday for the potluck today. Big hit. We were a little worried about the community potluck thing with all the sickness going around, but we did it anyway. Hopefully we won't get sick.

We went up to the cabin today to get it closed up for the winter. cry It was a pretty drive up.....partly sunny and most of the leaves on the trees have changed color.  The reds are spectacular this year, and some of the oranges made the trees look like they were the sun themselves. smile

You ever read any of the headstones while you're walking in a cemetery?   Sometimes I do just because I'm curious about people.

oh absolutely sandy. besides just walking in the nice autumn weather, the history of the gravestones is facinating.  Got a lot of people in a couple of the older sections of the cemeteries around here that died in 1913- thinking that bad spanish flu epidemic must have hit pretty hard back then....We walked one cemetery last weekend, and I was able to upright a few old fallen headstones. Idunno. felt good about that, or like it was the right thing to do.smile

That was a nice thing to do JD. smile Sometimes those folks don't have any family members left to tend to their graves so they get neglected.

I always wonder about people that died a long time ago....what kind of disease or illness they may have had, how hard life was back then, how little was known about treating sickness, stuff like that.

I used to walk through the cemetery by my grandma's house. It's a really big one with a section of old gravestones, and another section of veterans, and another section for babies and children. I used to take the flowers that were no longer on the graves they belonged to and put them on the babies and children's graves.

thats cool.smile
a neat thing about this jewish cemetary, is that people who visit a particular grave site will sometimes find a stone, kiss it, and place it on the headstone. so quite a few of the headstones had little stones from visitors on them. I am glad Heather was there to explain that to me. Otherwise, if I was walking by myself, it might have been one of those freak out kind of moments in particularly bad science ficton films...."WHY ARE THESE STONES HERE!?!?!? WHO DID THIS!?!? WHO PUT ALL THESE STONES HERE AND WHAT FOR!?!?!?! OH AND SOILENT GREEN IS PEOPLE ITS PEOPLE AAAAAAAAAAAAAH..." etc....
