The best show on tv is.....

Hey!

What's your favorite tv show and why?

Besides for football, my favorite is Family Guy, although I haven't seen any of the new season yet. That show is funny from the moment it starts through to the end!

I like American Justice, or Cold Case Files. I was going to be a cop when I was a wee little one and still carry the fascination.

JD,

Good question.  I, like you, dont watch much TV, but I really like Two and a Half Men.  It has a good ensemble cast and characters that play off each other well.

The Premise is this:

Charlie Sheen plays Charlie Harper, older brother, who lets his younger brother and nephew move in after the younger brother's divorce.

John Cryer plays the younger brother...he is a straight laced, very responsible dad who is a great comic foil to sheen's  lethario character.

The son has great comic timing for a kid and he should...his real name is Angus.

Throw in a mom, an eccentric neighbor who is always pining for Charlie and a smart mouthed house keeper and let simmer.

On the surface the premise sounds like a cliche, but the writing for the show's first two seasons was pretty crisp and it seemed to work.

Great ensemble comedy that remindes me alot of the great ensemble sitcoms of the 70's like Newhart, etc...Not ground breaking, just entertaining.

I agree with you, JD, The Family Guy is AWESOME! I also enjoy watching MXC Extreme Elimination on SpikeTV. I don't watch a lot of TV, and in the past few years the only show I've actually made SURE I was home for the scheduled viewing time was Nip/Tuck. LOVE that show!!

Although I do catch and enjoy many shows - many dramas - I do not know if I have one favorite. If I had to pick one, it probably would be 24. Although Desparete Housewives may be a close second. 24 just goes from beginning to end. And it is guaranteed to be 24 episodes a year.

I just can't get into the debauchery of Desperate Housewifes.

I have to agree w/ D.  That is about the only show I watch besides friends.  Charlie Sheen is really good in it.  Some of it's a little far fetched but that's what makes it good.

Boston Legal..cutting humor, dry and sarcastic, William Shatner is almost a cartoon figure and James Spader is great as the caustic, uncaring, only-in-it-for-me attorney. Add in Candice Bergan as the boss and it's just like FFR...only they get paid better.

Ray,

I think that is a great show....Spader and Shatner are excellent in it...Good writing.  They say they are bringing it back next fall.

I like 3 shows this year...one got cancelled (Joan of Arcadia),

one was put on hiatus (Boston Legal) and the other was considered a hit...(Two And a Half Men).

I am only batting .333  Good enough for baseball...not good for a TV exec

Law & Order SVU.  I am so addicted, and I've got their formula down pat.  They get the right suspect (or on the right track) at about 20 minutes into the show, but the twist always comes 45 minutes into the show, if not later.  I'm always saying, "OK, if that's the right suspect, what's the twist?"

I'm also watching season 1 of Family Guy right now, along with old episodes of the Muppet Show, and I'm a closet South Park fan.

Dylan,
I thought the studio didn't make more episodes of BL. I thought that was the reason it had a short run. It's too good not to be on somewhere.

Dave-
That 2 run homer was a thing of beauty. I don't think I've ever seen anyone watch a ball all the way in like that. She never looked up until it was well off her bat. I'll be watching tonight.

I saw most of that game last night. Who do you think will come through tonight? UCLA (defending champs) or Michigan (ranked #1).

My wife and I are both hooked on Law & Order (all but the latest one), CSI, Crossing Jordan, Monk, and the TOP of the list is ALIAS!

Honorable mention to The Dead Zone and The Food Network.  I miss NYPD Blue.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of L&O Criminal Intent or Trial by Jury, I much prefer the original or SVU..

I think the switch to sports always happens.

A great show is Gilmore Girls.  A fantastic show is Arrested Development.

Sorry Star, it's bound to happen. It is okay that girls do sports you know.   Sometimes it is easier to talk to the boys that way. Although, then there are those guys who can be a little intimidated if girls know sports stuff. So it can be a win or lose situation. Such is life.

The only time a guy would be intimidated with a girl talking sports with him is if she knew more than he did....

Like that could ever happen!

I will now take my beating like a man ladies

Starshine, I am not going to be goaded that easily...You havent watched a Bear game in 10 years I will bet.  The only time the Packer drool is when they see the Bears on their schedule...only because it is such an easy win for the Pack...

More like one!  I've even been to some!  Remember I was married to a sports fan in IL!!

So take that.  I saw the Bears lose plenty of times.  Sadly enough.  I even saw them at a friends in high def.
