So to get this back on track. JD, what was your biggest disappointment about New Orleans? Besides the train. Was there anything you expected and it didn't meet expectations?
O.K. to clear the record, I went in there to buy a gag gift...yeah, I can see you're not buying that. Anyway, I haven't been in one in a long time. The last time I was in there, this woman in a camo jacket and really short hair kept staring at me and following me around the store. She started trying to strike up a conversation and I don't know about you, but I'm just really leery of talking to anyone in there. This is gonna sound stupid, but it's like going to the bathroom, get in there, do what you gotta do and get the heck out.

Not really Ray. Just the train! I think we went right before the weather got to humid and hot, the week before the start of hurricane season- (got lucky with that!). I really think that Bourbon Street might be a place where you could litterally end up knee-deep in puke at 3 am- but leave that to the 21 yr old kiddies. That's their good time. Get there early, leave before the crowds, and its a ball. The food, the French Quarter, all good
......ok maybe The French Market. Its a cool idea- open 24 hrs, outdoor, but under a roof, maybe 2 blocks long. But they sell just little crap there- really a junk market. I bought a $1 little voodoo doll there, and only after the fact saw that it was made in China....its really just bulk wholesalers selling stuff out of boxes.
That's about it. My folks went last year and they thought it was a filthy town. THey stayed away from the quarter tho- I think they were by canal street, which is really not the touristy area. I am eager to get out to my folks on fathers day and just talk about this again- what it was they didn't like. I will post highlights (low-lights?) of that discussion here!
GO tho! The homes are beautiful! The locals are so nice!! laid back!!

That's great, JD. All fun all the time. I'd like to get back there someday. My wife and I have been there seperately and both work related. She was only there for two days and didn't get to see much. Quick in and out. I was there for a week and saw plenty but missed a lot too. I'd like to get back and take some of the tours, hit the out of the way places and hang out with the locals.
Hey by the way, and Ray we are kind of doing this with your Indy pics, and I asked CP if he'd share some pics & stories from his trip to Europe, Ultimo too-
If anybody here does anything cool, goes anywhere cool, has something they are really proud of, by all means share it with us! Send the stuff into the station! Give the rest of us the "insider's view". I, for one, know I'd appreciate it!
