Let this be the Sunday thread

Good day all.

I'm at Starbucks, writing.  I'd like to get 6000 words today.  I've written 800 so far.  Back to typing furiously.

G'mornin' all (I was only 14 minutes away from having to say good afternoon).

Bright sunny day here. They're saying it may be the last nice weekend of the year, I suppose I should get out and enjoy it a bit.

Good luck on the writing MZ.

E'body have a great one!

NO FREAKIN" WAY!! The Chiefs beat the Steelers in OT!! I would not believe it had I not actually watched it happen.

Been a busy day in Mema's world. Got 3 more batches of cookies baked and a meatloaf ready to go in the oven. On tap for tonight: 2 more batches of cookies mixed up and at least 2 pumpkin pies made. Also somewhere in here have to run a load or two of stuff over to my neighbor's new place.

Okay... dinner done and cleaned up. 2 more batches of cookies mixed up and in the fridge. Gonna put together a couple pumpkin pies and see if I can stay awake long enough for them to bake.

Hi all.  I just got home from the hospital.  Had to take my dad in to emergency this afternoon.  I went over to his house this afternoon, and I had to let myself in....he didn't answer my knocking on the door.  When I walked in, he was very confused, didn't know where he was or what day it was, said he couldn't find his phones to call me, was very congested in his chest, color wasn't right, left eye was closed and didn't open until I had him in the car on way to hospital.  His oxygen levels were down in the very low 50s when I got him there.  They gave him a chest x-ray and CT scan......has lots of fluid around his heart and backing up into his lungs, CT Scan is clear, but they're having a neurologist check him over tomorrow.

I'm thinking he might have had a TIA (mini-stroke) or he's not getting enough oxygen to his brain due to his heart valve being too small.

His color was coming back tonight before I left, and he was getting more coherent as the evening was going on, which is good.

So tomorrow I will be spending the day at the hospital awaiting more testing to be done on him.

Bummer. Strokes are cruel. They rob little pieces of our memory.
Hey, I'm checking out. I've had  a super long day. Started at 6:30am. We took a bike ride for about an hour. Awesome. A little chilly. Grilled some chops. Little fire in the chimanea.
Take care all. See you here again sometime soon!
thanks to JD for the tune-age.

Yeah, I think my intuition kicked in and said I better get my butt over there today.  My dad and husband had just come back last night after being gone all last week for deer hunting.  My husband said my dad was fine all week; a little tired but nothing to be concerned about.  Anyway right now I'm waiting for my brother to get home from work so I can call him.....he works the afternoon shift and won't be home for about another hour.  Then it's off to beddie-bye for me.  I'm tired just from sitting around doing nothing today.hmm

I just remembered that I haven't ate since 7:00 this morning.....no lunch or dinner. DUH, no wonder my stomach feels like it's eating itself. laughing.gif  Think I'm gonna sign out and go scrounge around for some food.

Hope all of you enjoy the rest of your evening!!  smile

Goodnight all.

Hi all.  Just wanted to give an update before I head back up to the hospital this morning.  We finally saw the neurologist  last night; he said dad didn't have a stroke so that's a bit of good news.  He is concerned though as to why dad's oxygen levels were so low on Sunday so he ordered an MRI and a test to check his carotid arteries...those are the arteries in your neck.  He told us last night that dad will now be on oxygen all the time instead of just when he's sleeping at night.  Of course dad's not happy to hear this because that's going to somewhat limit some of the things he enjoys doing but I told him it's better to have to do that than end up back in the hospital.

They are also working on getting his blood thicker.....yesterday it was running way too thin so they didn't give him his Coumidin and he may not get it today either; and they're working on getting fluid off from around his heart and lungs.  We know that's from the heart valve that was replaced being too small.  The fluid is cause for worry because that can put him into congestive heart failure.  The nurse said if the meds to get the fluid off don't start doing their job today they will be tapping his lungs later tonight.  So, we're out of the woods as far as him not having a stroke, but we're not in the clear yet because of the fluid.

Anyway, please continue to keep us in your prayers and thoughts.  I appreciate it very much!  Will keep you posted.
