Good morning sleepy heads. I've been up since 4:30....couldn't sleep so I decided it was better to get up and start my day instead of lying in bed wishing I could go back to sleep.
We didn't get as much snow as they predicted; only about 4 inches BUT we got a lot of freezing rain on top of it. Right now it's still icing everything up outside. I'd rather it be all snow...makes it easier to drive on. All the schools are closed this morning so I turned off both girls' alarm clocks. They'll be happy to have a day off.
My dad came home from the hospital yesterday. Hopefully, he won't have to go back. He's doing a little better but is still having breathing problems. Visiting nurse is supposed to be at his house this afternoon, physical therapist tomorrow. All three doctors said this is going to be a long recuperation....could take months. I just hope he gets better than what he is right now, otherwise dad might give up the fight and not make it through the recovery period.
I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and asking about him. You've helped keep me sane during this trying period of time.
Good luck to your dad, Ghost. Did they ever figure out what was wrong?
So far, it's just windy here. We're supposed to get some rain turning to snow, but the weather dudes don't seem to be too concerned about that. They're more concerned that the wind is supposed to pick up during the day.
I'm glad your dad got to at least go home, Sandy. Hopefully he'll continue to recover and get back to normal.
School is closed here again today. The snow has stopped and its sunny, but its windy and bitterly cold. The actual temp is -4 and I don't even know what the wind chill is.
I couldn't get the snow blower to start this morning. It was too cold to crank myself, and the electric starter wouldn't kick in. I covered it up with a tarp in the garage and put a space heater right on the starter for about 1/2 hour. That warmed it up enough that the starter would then engage.
I got the snow cleaned out here at the house, now we're off to grandma's and the shop to see what kind of damage we can do there.
Morning all. If I weren't up at 3am, I wouldn't have known that there was sleet piled everywhere. The temps rose , everything turned to rain and the other stuff melted. We still have rain. It is suppose to slow down and stop by this afternoon. In the meantime, the creek and the river are way up.

Got grandma's snow cleaned out and about 2/3 of the shop done. The wind was just wrong to do the South side of the building, it was blowing the snow right back in my face. I'll see if I can work on that some more tomorrow.
The boy and I had McDonalds for lunch. That is the first time I've eaten at McDonalds in months . . . now I remember why.
We are back home and in for the day now.
Our house is on city-owned electric, but my shop/office is outside city limits so its on the rural, public power system. Every year, the public power district puts out a calendar featuring photos submitted by customers. I submitted a couple photos this year and one of them was picked to be used. It was one of my butterfly on the lilac bush pics. Not a big deal, but the power district covers eight counties so its kind of cool knowing that my photo was one of only 12 used for the calendar.
I told my wife and she said "Yeah, I've known that for a week, but I didn't want to tell you so you'd be surprised when you got the calendar". One of the ladies from the power office had been in the bank and told her. She held out on me.
I always liked Wolf. I think he spent the last year or two in LA. Was kind of hoping the Phillies would think about singing him. But I think the starters are good to go. We just need help in the bullpen.
