A couple years ago I sold stuff at the flea market and had a bunch of singles on me. I went to a restaurant and paid the waitress with all singles. She counted them all and said "Oh, you must work with money, all the bills are facing the same direction".
I do order them smallest in front. I don't worry so much about them all being right side up and face forward though. I may adjust them if I have time, but if I'm at the counter getting change, I just put them in order and stuff them in my wallet.
I'm anal too; money is grouped together by denominations, right side up, all facing same direction.....I worked a cash drawer for years. Old habits die hard.
Of course! Any cashier worth his or her weight would! Drives me nuts that my husband doesn't have his bills all facing the same way.
Anyone ever wait on a blind person? They fold (or have asked me to fold for them) the bills certain ways - for ex., $20 gets folded once the long way. It must be nice for blind people in other countries - where the bills are different sizes. Because sad but true - not all cashiers are gonna be honest about that kind of thing...

I never thought about that LS. I guess our paper money is not very blind-friendly.

I do that too. But I fold my money in half because I don't use a wallet. The largest bills are in the middle and ones are on the outside, I've heard that it makes it look like you have less money that way. And they have to be in order, same side up, all facing the same way. I've also heard that you tend to be more aware of the money you're spending the more anal you are about how you carry it, although I'm unsure about that one.
If I am not in a hurry I will put the money in order but not always all same direction. However I will hand money off all in one direction I've never been a cashier.

Actually I could believe that MZ.
There have been several times that I've had to stop at six or seven stores / restaurants in a short period of time and during those trips I've often just crammed the money back in my wallet in no order.
I'm not sure if I actually spent more because of it, but I certainly was surprised at how much I spent when I got home and finally sorted it out.
Usually the reaction is something along the lines of "WTF! This is all singles and fives! How can I only have ONE twenty dollar bill left?!?!?!?"
