I'm taking a thread idea I saw on another site because I'm interested in your answers...
"First World Problems".... you know, like, "There's too much food in my refrigerator!" "I spend too much time on the Net!" "My cellphone doesn't get reception at home!"
My latest First World Problem is a two-year dating dry spell that has instantly turned into a monsoon - with literally two guys calling with a half hour of one another last night. I can barely find time to date one let alone two.
When I was unemployed, I went a month desperately searching with no luck, and then finally I got a job offer. I took it out of fear that I wouldn't get any others. Then, about 2 weeks later, I got about 5 job offers within a week of each other! So I kept the one (the spa), and took the best of the others (the charity). Now I work too much!
This past Christmas I was able, through a promotion at work, give both of my girls nice Toshiba 20" TV-VCR-DVD combos. They were very nice. About three weeks ago a lightning strike near the house took them out. Insurace has a $500 deductible and the sets retail from $329 to $350 each. Tough decision. I'm having a repair shop look at them for $100 then who knows how much to fix them. I hope they can fix them for much less than $500. Otherwise I'll probably shell out the difference for new ones.
Hey MJ you supply the shingles and beer I'm sure a few of us would road trip for a weekdend of roofing.
thanks Ray appreciate the offer.. any time you head toward Connecticut (although why anyone would want to come here is beyond me) i'll hook you up.
I know how horrible lightning storms can be, we had a brown out of few years ago during a thunder storm and it knocked out our big TV (even though it was on a surge protector), we got it fixed at a shop (highway robbery and very pain in the buttish as it was very ackward and heavy to move)
It ended up breaking again within 30 days. ( i don't think it was fixed right, and since it was fixed just before we moved, it seemed a better idea just to buy a new TV rather than bring the monster back to the shop in our old town and complain)
now it lives in the garage cause it is too big and heavy to move. sigh.
I bet Dovetails with his Macgyver skills could fix your tv MJ, all he would need would be the tar paper from the shingles and the empty beer can after Ray drank it.

Ditto that JD, when my ceiling fan in my bedroom is on high, it wobbles and get's the pull string swinging which hits the glass covering the bulb and 'tings'.
MZ, JD, They make weights that you put on the ceiling fans to balance them out. They look like little flat magnets. Sometimes they are still on the blades but have slipped to the side. Otherwise you can bye them at the hardware store. Been there done that...

O.K. Now being a country girl, we don't used them new fangled notions for our ceiling fan. We superglue pennies on them.
Mine is that I don't have enough cabinet space in my kitchen for all the food I buy. My can cabinet is full to the brim. My Wal-mart bag cabinet is also full to the brim...

Ray - We had the same problem last year. Therre was a power surge in an apartment complex 1/2 mile away that blew the meters off the building. Just in our house it fried two computers, two tv's, a heating pad, an alarm clock and a few other thing that I can not remember. All of which were plugged into a surge protector. My tv cost about $100 to put in the replacement part and it has been fine. The nieghbors lost things like their heater, someone else lost their washer.
Trish - you can store the extra food at my house. Mainly because I don't have too much there.

My minivan takes too long to handwash, because it is much bigger than my last car. So it stays dirty much of the time. (I am too cheap to pay someone to do it!) Also, I have to take out the trash almost everyday because we waste do much. And finally it takes me at least four hours to clean my house! Okay now I am feeling really guilty!
