RE: JR not a dirty welcher.

Asisson,

Things go in cycles.  The Bears owned the Packers in the 80's and early 90's.  The Packers have been successful since then.  I am sure there will come a day when the Bears will re-emerge to once again take the upper hand in this proud rivalry.  I just hope I am too senile to realize it when it does occur.

I am sorry, you seem like a nice lady and I cant bring the same anti-Bear rhetoric with you that I can with Weftur.  Doesnt mean I dislike the Bears any less.  It just means that I cant be blatant about it with you...

But if you start something Missy....

Gosh now I am being called a nice lady. That makes me sound so old! I don't know what's worse, being called old or being made fun of for being a Bears fan

I'll back off of the old lady syndrome, because deep inside I am a nice girl, but I still hate cheeseheads! So we can call a truce now, but come football season- watch out, WFTR and I will have our day!

I think we have MoCrzy and Trish on our side as well.  Yes?  No?  And I know Star is in the Blue 'n Orange crowd.

What a team we'll be, a Chicago Italian paired up with an Asisson.  Just like bacon 'n eggs.

Hey Star!  Where do your loyalties lie when it comes to the Dolphins and the Bucs?

The rivalry thing down here doesn't bother me.  I'm a Chicagoan at heart.

I like you more everyday Star.  I don't know if we'll ever bridge the "Barbie Girl" gap, but were making progress.

what I like is when the Brocks' and Muffies'  come up from the northern fib suburbs for cubs games at "Wrigely North" like this week. They drive 90 miles and hour in people's driveways near the stadium, they pee on trees, the speak in tongues. Good times.

Did you hear something, Star?  Thought I heard a 'Sconsinite trying to shine-ola his way into the Illinois club house.  Bar the door!  Asisson, get the water balloons!

<<< JD  (we don't have a water baloon emoticon, this is representational)

I hate to say it Star, but once football season starts the "Let's get Dylan twitterpated" stuff is out, or at least banned for the week before the game.

Unless, of course, you can get him to switch sides.

I like the tomato toss better. Down here the tomatoes are as big as footballs! I'll keep some in my freezer for the season. JD are you trying to switch sides? Riggs will need all the friends he can get.

Did you think that I would drop a lifelong allegiance to the greatest sports team in the world because some cute girl bats her eyes at me Star?

I would have to say that you are either severely underestimating me or this is one fantastic girl the likes of which I have yet to meet.

Either way, good luck with your endeavors come September....

Now with all this Packers/Bears talk going on and with me having no alligance to any team in your football league, I feel it may be time for me to take an interest in the sport, but who should be my team, will I go with the Packers or the Bears? I think its up to you guys to pursuade me either way?

Ultimo-

You should align yourself with the Indianapolis Colts.

They are the best team in American football...bar none. They have a few championships too but I'm looking to the future. We have more to come. The Bears and Packers are just a notch below the soon to be Super Bowl Champions.

Chek em out at www.colts.com

They have the best quarterback in the league in Peyton Manning. By the time his career is over he'll own nearly every passing record their is.
With Marvin Harrison you have the best receiver in the league.
These two are just as good off the field as they are on the field. Their head coach is Tony Dungy, one of the most genuine guys around.
What I'm saying is these guys are the type of individuals you would like as a neighbor.

Plus I work their games for the NFL. If you ever get a chance to make it to Indianapolis and the Colts are playing at home I'll get you on the field for a game!!!

How could I have forgotten the Cheerleaders???

Just remember, while your on the field the Colt Cheeleaders are always nearby. I'm sure the British accent will get you attention too.

Then I'll take you to Rob n Jays Chippy for some bangers and mash and a couple of pints. My treat!!!

Wait! wait ! that was toooooo easy!

Ultimo! In the grand scheme of American football, Lambeau Field is where the true legends of the sport reside in the annals of history! If I wasn't so attached to it, I'd send you my tape of the ice-bowl! 32 degree BELOW ZERO weather! Bloodied bodies from being tackled on shards of ice! Side-line tents created out of coats and towels! A Packers Championship win over the punk Dallas Cowboys!

Green Bay- the cheerladies are kind enough to sit down until half-time so we are not distracted from the sport!

I can't believe it- its June. Its basketball championship season, its the heart of baseball season, and we are talking FOOTBALL!!!

Oh, BEARS SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!

JD

Well, I believe in honesty Ultimo, so I must admit that the Bears have not given us much to cheer about on the field, but you can't beat them for heart and tradition.  And we can back them up with one of the greatest cities in the world!  I defy you to look back over Bear history and not find names that even on your side of the pond ring clear.  Papa Bear George Halas, Walter Payton, "Da Coach" Mike Ditka, William "The Fridge" Perry (who played for the London Monarchs, I believe).

And consider this, where would you want to go after a game?  To the local dive bar in Indy or Green Bay, or up and down The Magnificent Mile?  Come on, The Art Institute, The Opera House, The John Handcock building, 5 star restaurants wherever you turn, you can't beat it!  And I don't recall Saturday Night Live creating a bit about the Indy fans, or the Green Bay fans.  No, my friend, it was Da Suuuuperrr Fanz!!  "Daaaaa Bears, da Bears, da Bears, da Bears!"

Ultimo, if you're going by the city, judge for yourself, would you rather hang out in a city of smog where you can see the haze that hangs over it from miles away, or in the nice clear air of Indianapolis or Green Bay?  Plus, the Bears have the loyalty of one dirty city, where the Colts have the loyalty of a whole state!!!  And come on, who thought orange and blue went together?

Ultimo, please give WFTR and the Bears a chance. Don't let their cheerleaders sway you. The Bears have heart and have the greatest city in the world behind them. Also, did you see what the greenbay packers wear on their heads? I know how much you like to check out cool websites, so please go here:

http://www.cheesehead.com/

Now do you really want to cheer for them?

Hmmm,

It appears we're trying to win Ultimo over as a fan of our respective teams huh?

Ultimo, I'd like to point out that all those "names" from Chicago were indeed fine players, but as they say in most pro sports, it don't mean a thing if you don't got that ring.

Individual career stats are nice, but what matters is championships baby, and as Dylan pointed out, NO ONE, NOOOOOOOOOOOO ONE tops the Green Bay Packers in that area.

As for stadiums, have you SEEN that horrendus new field da Bears play in?!?!?! Who in their right mind wouldn't prefer the hallowed ground, the frozen tundra, of Lambau Field?

Green Bay is an industrial town, so so much for clean air.

Indianapolis is land locked, so you would long for some kind of shoreline.  And of course the whole state loves the Colts, what the heck else is there!  And the Bears originated and are still in Chicago, where as the Colts went into exile in Indy after they ran away in the night from Baltimore.

But you decide.
