We have a 6 week baby lab staying with us, I am up because of the whining! She is sweet though. I have an appointment with an ENT this morning, I keep getting sinus infections and gonna see what they put me through!

Have a great!

The Girl stayed with us for the weekend. I don't really think any of her issues with her Mom are going to be worked out. i think she is just caving. Probably thinking she can make it a few more months before she leaves for college. She returned home and the live-in bf isn't talking to her and her mom is really sick so nothing has been addressed yet. I got the stomach flu shortly after getting home Friday and now Mr Woo isn't feeling well. We both stayed home from work yesterday. And of course my work pile only gets bigger :/

Have a good day!

yawn oh hello. there was a big fire at The Pizza Man last night that totally destroyed the buisiness. The place was a Milwaukee institution for 40 yrs on the East side. Sad its gone. Not sure if the Greek restaurant and the night club next store (same building) made it yet. The club has (had?) a real cool big upstairs outside deck and used to serve a real good sunday brunch. having brunch up on the deck was fun.

Awww... Baby Labs are sweet -- black, yellow or chocolate, Ruby?

I have a lighter, Woo... No, that would be arson...

Hi, Fuzzy... Ready? Set? GO!

Today is Isaac's 7th birthday. Time really slips away quickly...

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

Good day all.

I have help in my office today, so I can't play much. It's cramping my morning routine.

I'm going, I 'm going.

I filled the candy jar, did the account recs, filed, transferred files form one drawer to another, copied over a file and prepared it for 2010 use, grumbled at the boss via Microsoft Communicator, spoke to the boss, answered one email, grumbled about the TX audit.

Now I need to provide copies of the approved EFT requeststo the treasury accountant.

Then I need to get going on my follow up on the TX audit with phone calls, emails and maybe some face to face visits. Lucky me.

I also need to file the WA workers comp. I probably should do that next.

Happy Birthday Isaac! Seven is big stuff.

So far, all I know additional about the fire here was that they think it started in the garage and then moved to the house. That's not the official fire marshal's assessment yet, though. Yesterday, Mrs Web said "We are getting all new smoke alarms . . . soon!"

Its a chilly, foggy day here. Its kind of pretty though with the trees all frosty white.

Due to all the reports of fires, I will refrain from my usual response to this suggestion wink

Happy Birthday Isaac!

What a day... Got my replacement PCS phone for the one that attempted suicide under my truck tires... now trying to get the service switched. One would think this is easy, right? BWAHAHAHAHA.

Especially given the fact that you are employed to work on internals of the very system that you are using.

Indirectly... Unfortunately, I do not have direct access to the PCS gear because I work in the IP services division. I do have contacts there, so I have someone working on it. Second problem: This is on the company employee account.

Alrightie then! Got my service swapped to the new, not broken phone. Just gotta go get the phone book transfered over cuz I don't want to have to type all that.

For the record, this is the first time I've called employee accounts that I actually got decent service. smile.gif I think it was because I made the lady laugh right off.

Employee Care: What can I help you with today?
Me: My current LG phone is experiencing a technical difficulty, so I need to swap my service to a new phone. I've already procured me a new phone.
Employee Care: Are you sure your LG phone can't be fixed?
Me: Quiet sure.
Employee Care: What is the problem with it?
Me: It attempted to commit suicide by jumping out of my purse and throwing itself under the wheels of my truck.
Employee Care: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA! I've never heard it put that way before!!!
Me: I like to be different. Alas, I was not the only person who ran it over. Its in pretty harsh shape.

Here's a tech question for ya, Mema . . .

I understand some of the general differences between GSM and CDMA, but what is PCS? I mean, in a broad brush, what (if any) makes PCS different from GSM or CDMA? Is there a big fundamental difference, or is it more of a brand name for that particular service?

Sprint PCS is a CDMA service.

PCS = Personal Communications Service... just another way of saying broad ranging wireless service for the individual (call management services, call completion regardless of location, that sort of thing)

CDMA = Call (or Code) Division Multiple Access... digital cellular service also known as Spread Spectrum. Basically it is a newer system of scrambling and encoding speech bits to make more efficient use of the broadcast frequency spectrum for greater capacity... like 10X that of analog and maybe 20X that of conventional cellular services. Bit of trivia: the original name for Sprint PCS was Sprint Spectrum.

GSM = Groupe Speciale Mobile ... older digitial cellular service more commonly used in Europe, Japan, and Austrailia or here for like web phone and computer communications. It is actually a specific set of ETSI standards for compression and decompression of data.

The big, fundamental difference between CDMA and GSM is the compression/decompression methods and usage of the broadcast spectrum. Folks with hearing aids generally notice the difference more accutely as GSM tends to cause them to experience really high pitched squealing sounds the closer they get to their phone. Not so with CDMA.

I didn't know that about the hearing aids. I wonder if my friend Jay knows that. His used to squeak all the time, although I never noticed whether it happened when he was on the phone. Actually, I refused to call him, opting to text him instead. Calling a deaf man is just too weird.

Yeah... I can understand that. Could be that it feedback from GSM.

Thanks, Mema.

That's mainly what I was wondering . . . if PCS was anything different than CDMA or just another label. I knew that Sprint was mainly CDMA because of the roaming agreements with other CDMA carriers, but I didn't know if PCS was something different.

I thought about asking JR this, but I decided you'd probably know too.

Thank you everyone for Happy Birthday wishes for Isaac.

Me: I love you, Isaac. I can't believe you're already seven!
Isaac: I love you too, mom. Ya, me either.
Me: (huggy smothering him) Don't you wish you could stay little; I do.
Isaac: (trying to get away) Sorry mom, but that's the way life is... cry

It is okay. He may be the youngest now, but soon you will have a temporary replacement.

The youngest ones aren't usually in a hurry to leave. They seem to get treated the best and get away with a lot more.
