Anybody Doing Any Reading Lately?

If so, what are you reading?

I'm working my way through Stephen King's "Under The Dome" and I know I have a book in my hands while reading.  This baby has 1,072 pages in it!!  I'm almost finished though...on page 915.  Good read too.....interesting plot line. biggrin

I have been slacking in the worst way. I haven't even read Mz's draft yet.

I had a friend who absolutely enjoyed "Under the Dome."

I just just ordered a couple new books from Amazon that should be here in a couple days. One is an intelligent look at the signs of creation and the other is an encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics.

I am reading a book called "The Historian"  by Elizabeth Kostova

The premise is a history scholar uncovers evidence that Vlad the Impaler, a 14th century feudal lord (and historical basis of the Dracula legend) is still alive.

Only about 125 pages into it.  So far it is well written and interesting.

Dylan, that's the book I'm currently reading!! I'm about halfway through.

So far I like it, but I'm not crazy about it. I'm reading it because my stepmom loves it and recommended it. I'm finding there's a whole lot of gaps with nothing happening, and I'm far enough into the book where those parts are boring, they don't build suspense anymore. That feeling of, "She's telling me this because something's going to happen related to it soon," is getting frustrating.

That being said, I think I'm finally getting into the good stuff. It's finally to the point where all the characters admit that vampires are real and they're no longer keeping information from each other. Well, not as much information anyway, I think I know a couple things they haven't revealed yet.

Dylan & MZ - that's unbelievable that you're both reading the same book!!

I am reading this book, but it wasn't done with Annie's cooperation, and therefore all of the interviews so far (I'm up to the point where she's in college) are from school friends, teachers, and aquaintences.  It also gives waaaay more detail than I need about every little thing.  Like her classes, her teachers' methods, etc.  It's a thick book, and now I know why.  yawn.gif

I saw a Bowie documentary that was the same way. They didn't even have permission to use his songs. It was nice to have the info, but I felt dirty after watching it.

I read a bio on Marilyn Manson and once I finished it I wondered how much was true and how much was put in just for shock value.  If the whole thing was true, he's one sick puppy. no.gif

There hasnt been alot of suspense so far.

We will have to compare notes later, but at least let me know how you like it when you finish.  I see she has a new book out if you like her style.

I am going to assume you mean Sandra Brown. I hate to say I read all 70 something of her books with in about 6 months! This was just this past year! This past book is nothing like her other books, except that the story moves along and the characters are really brought to life. If you like her- read it- I bet you'll love it!

Thanks, I will.  I've read all the books my library has by her but their collection doesn't include all of her books.

Well, Bowie usually does make you feel / think dirty things.   wink.gif

I need to find something fun to read. The last two books I read were all about information: "Chemo and Radiation for Dummies" and "Breast Cancer for Dummies". Easy reads, lots of good info... just not much on the fun.

Most of those "Dummies" books are pretty good for quick info. Cancer is never a fun subject though.

Oh, I like the Anita Blake series. It's a guilty pleasure. I know it's not deep intellectual reading, but it's fun to indulge in fantasies for a little while.
