Just saw a TV ad for this and it's a simple but BRILLIANT improvement on a device that's been around for a looooooong time.

A smoke alarm with the battery compartment on the front!  No more struggling to get the thing down off the wall or ceiling to change batteries.

I remember somebody once saying the best inventions are merely improvements on current products.  I think he was right.

heck I'd even leave the front door latch thing off so the battery would be visible. Good reminded in case someone forgets to put a new one in.

Man, how many times have I said the battery should be in the front!  One of us could've made some money off this.  It's the story of my life....always a day late and a dollar short. no
