OK, the fact that we are all on this board all day may make this a bad question to ask, but what do you do to keep yourself motivated to get your work done during the day?


At the moment, I've got more work on my desk than I can finish in a day, and I'm tired and bored.  I love my job, but today I would just rather go home, take a nap, then sit by the pool for the rest of the day.  I can usually use music to get me working, but today I'm just not feeling it.  I need some motivation.

MZ, When I have days like that, I just take the first piece of paper that is in front of me and work on it until its completion.  The go to the next.  No fair shuffling papers and say you will do tomorrow.  You won't believe how much you accomplish and how fast your day will go.

I had the same problem the other day MZ. I shut off FFR! Not the radio, but the forum... it worked wonders.....

When my job is going the way it should it is a very creative process and that is enough to keep me going.  I start a design and can't help but push until I have it working.  With the mundane stuff like record keeping or getting together part drawings, I use CP's style, just take it one piece at a time.  As far as resisting distractions (like the forum) I just remind myself how much worse it will be if all the work is boring AND under a tight deadline.  Get the painfull stuff over with, then your relaxation won't be interrupted.


GET BACK TO IT!

Queenie - I have that problem sometimes. Especially when I am just not into what needs to be done right then and there. Sometimes just the realization that if I don't finish things my work life will be so much worse. It does become a piece at a time deal.


I agree, there are days you feel like you are just done and need to leave at noon. Those are the days that drag.

Wef, you get points for actually getting me to look at a bible passage.  But, not being Christian, it didn't help me a whole lot.  Thanks for the thought though.


I got all my contacts entered and numbered, now I have to send the letters and put them in the other database.  (Another thing that hinders my motivation, we have at least two databases that everything has to be put into.  We're working on eliminating one, but we're not quite there yet.)  So, I'm getting something done.

Actually star, I've arranged for a nation-wide celebration for you. It will be held on the 4th. It will be on a monday, which would seem to be bad, but I give the nation off of work. And yes there will be fireworks across the nation!


Preceeded by this will be a huge multi-contenent concert to be held this saturday!
