Sexiest Song? What do YOU think?

Billboard ranked the top 50 sexiest songs and name Olivia Newton John's "Physical" at number one.

I loved ONJ, but that was never one of my favorite songs.

For my money I'd have to go with Sheena Easton's "Sugar Walls" or "Strut", maybe even that duet she did with Prince "You've Got The Look".

The Pussycat Dolls with "Don'tcha".  I could probably come up with 50 songs I find sexier than "Physical".

Then again, the Billboard list was just based on popularity of the song.

What about you, what do you think?

Maybe we should create a list and then we can post it out there via twitter and facebook to bring some attention to ourselves.  biggrin.gif   The 30 dumbest songs?  The 25 songs with the fewest vowels?  The top 3 songs of the 70's?  I'm just spit-ballin' idea's here, stop me anytime.  biggrin.gif

"Let's Get It On" should've been #1. "Physical" does nothing for me. In fact, there's a lot of songs on here that I wouldn't really consider sexy. Sexual subject matter maybe, but that doesn't necessarily make the song sexy.

Why don't we make this our theme today?

I saw this on the Early Show this morning and thought "Are they NUTS??!! No way is that the sexiest song!!"  Should have been Marvin Gaye's "Lets Get It On."  nod.gif

Well, they based it solely on chart activity. Which isn't really a good way to decide the sexiest song. no.gif

Probably because of the innuendos in the lyrics:

Sledgehammer lyrics
you could have a steam train
if you'd just lay down your tracks
you could have an aeroplane flying
if you bring your blue sky back

all you do is call me
I'll be anything you need

you could have a big dipper
going up and down, all around the bends
you could have a bumper car, bumping
this amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
oh let me be your sledgehammer
this will be my testimony
show me round your fruitcage
'cos I will be your honey bee
open up your fruitcage
where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
you'd better call the sledgehammer
put your mind at rest
I'm going to be-the sledgehammer
this can be my testimony
I'm your sledgehammer
let there be no doubt about it

sledge sledge sledgehammer

I've kicked the habit
shed my skin
this is the new stuff
I go dancing in, we go dancing in
oh won't you show for me
and I will show for you
show for me, I will show for you
yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
only you
you've been coming through
going to build that powerr
build, build up that power, hey
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
going to feel that power, build in you
come on, come on, help me do
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
it's what we're doing, doing
all day and night

Gotta wonder too, if its just the song, or the song and video.

I think that if you take the song in context of the time it was popular, I can see why "Physical" was up there. At that time, it was a sexy (video) song. Now, we have more sex on Saturday morning cartoons that that video, but compared to what else was on at the time, I can see why "Physical" would be on the list.

I know what song I'm thinking should be there, but I can't think of the name of it. I'll remember here in a bit.

JR helped me remember . . . . Samantha Fox "Touch Me". I remember as a teenage boy, that song/video made me feel funny inside.

Without reading the list, my first reaction is "How Can I Refuse" by Heart.
Also Blue Oyster Cult's "White Flags"
Lots of KISS songs, lots of ****rock songs - Motley Crue, etc. That's probably the sexiest stuff. That's the stuff that strippers dance to.
OK, now that I haven't been influenced by the official list, I will look at it.

I'm sorry, but perhaps the people who put the list together don't understand what the adjective "Sexy" means. Just because they're talking about sex does not mean it's "sexy." "She-Bop"? Sooo not sexy.

40. Juvenile featuring Soulja Slim "Slow Motion"
39. Roberta Flack "Feel Like Makin' Love"
38. Sylvia "Pillow Talk"

OK, not counting the songs I don't know (which annoys me, by the way) I agree with the following:
33. Donna Summer "Love to Love You Baby"
7. Captain & Tennille "Do That To Me One More Time"
5. Marvin Gaye "Lets Get It On"

Aaaaaaand... that's pretty much it.

Never ever found her attractive.  She doesn't really have a pretty face or good hair.  And her body always seemed pudgy to me.  Can't really sing either.  I remember when she was dating Paul Stanley and I saw her at one of the shows.  I was standing right next to her, and she was wearing a tight red dress, and I swear, 90% of the women in the club were sexier than her.  yawn.gif

And I think I've mentioned this before, but it still makes me laugh:
I don't think someone yelling at you in a demanding spoiled little girl voice "Touch me NOW!" is sexy. laughing.gif

The only Juvenile song I'm familiar with is "Lean Back."

I think I've heard Sylvia's "Pillow Talk" but I don't recall how it goes.

DO THAT TO ME ONE MORE TIME was used on 30 Rock recently when one of the characters (Jenna) sang it with her long lost mother as a duet (which was clearly inappropriate).

It would have been funny but it was such a direct rip-off of the time Jason Bateman's character on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT sang "Afternoon Delight" as a duet with his niece during a Karaoke night that it just ticked me off.

(But on Arrested Development it made me laugh out loud for a good half a minute)

Awww, that's just cus you weren't a teenage boy.  TRUST ME, she was sexy (in a slutty way).

I did think she was pretty though, and I don't mind a little pudge on a woman, in fact I prefer it over a really thin look.

This one will KILL you LS.  You may want to look away!

I LOVED her version of I ONLY WANNA BE WITH YOU.  I really like the original, but Samantha's version was bubblier and happier and to this day makes me wanna dance around my apartment when I hear it.  smile.gif

Ok, you can look again.

Possibly the same writers?  I remember as a kid seeing a Monkees episode and another show's ---  I think it may have been "Bewitched" where the plot was very similar, and I thought "Someone is ripping off somebody!"  Many many years later I found out the episodes were written by the same team.

Not dissimilar to when you heard someone else do a Steiman song, and thought "This sounds like Meat Loaf", right?

Hmmm... "Physical" -- NO.

The Doors "Gloria" -- YES -- not on the list.

Possible.

Arrested Development never really caught on like it should have, so if they did move on to 30 Rock they may have figured why not use it again.  It WAS a good joke.

No, I really don't think it has anything to do with being a female.  I have no problem finding sexy women sexy.  Slutty never bothered me either.  And actually, a lot of my male friends agree with me that she was bleh - SO THERE!!!  Blew your gender theory to shreds, Mr. Riggers!

I'm trying to request some, but there must be a lot of songs that I consider sexy that didn't make it in our list.

"Closer" by Nine Inch Nails "I want to ---- you like an animal... You get me closer to God." And that beat totally drives it home (pun intended).

"Rock Candy" by Montrose "You're rock candy baby. Hard, sweet, and sticky."

I'd have to agree with those choices Mz.  Especially "Closer" by NIN.
