How were your fireworks?

Sunday Night at Summerfest, we were able to see Milwaukee's BIG fireworks on the lake from our seats at the Steve Winwood show. They were good, but some people camp out for spots along the lake in some of the parks for a day ahead of time to get the best view they can. They aren't THAT good!

Tonight we went to a smaller park by the house that has fireworks. You can sit on the football field and bleachers, and they shoot them off from the tennis courts on the far side of the bleachers. They literally explode above your head, and it did seem as if some of the embers would actually land on people. They were really close, loud and good. I'd much rather see these than to fight the traffic jam downtown for the BIG one!

How were your 4ths, the weather, the fireworks etc??

The weather was fantastic. We shoot our fireworks at the lake, like everyone does. Lots of variety. We did have one that didn't shoot and exploded in the tube. I don't know what it looked like I ducted and covered. We found the best value was a cluster of 10-15 tubes that shoot off in succession. Pretty easy and they worked great. Next year I think we are going to load up on those.

I never did find any snakes.  They just don't have the variety here that they have in states like IN.  But I did see Fireworks at the Biltmore.  They were good.  But I'd say my favorite fireworks I've seen were at Comiskey.  They choreography the fireworks to Ricky martin.  It's awesome.  Last night there were people watching from the pool at the Biltmore which was a really good idea because it was super hot out - 93 degrees!

The weather was fantasic. I don't think you could have asked for anything more. This was my first 4th of July in my new house. The house backs up to a park. Apparently the set fireworks off every year. It was a zoo around the house with people parking anywhere they could squeeze into. It was a good show. It lasted 30 minutes. I just sat in the backyard and watched the show. They were so close it seemed like I actually could reach out and touch them.

The weather was really good here too.  We went to a friend's house for a cookout, but left early because my hubby wasn't feeling well.  He went home and went to bed, and once it got dark, I could hear all the fireworks but couldn't see any.  But it was nice out, so I went down to the pool and brought my book (and booklight) with me.  I swam a bit and had th whole pool to myself, and then I found that I could watch some fireworks down by the pool.  So I ended up standing on a chair to see over the fence and watch the fireworks, with a drink in hand.  It was actually very relaxing, I enjoyed it.

We had a good weekend. We had our parents for a Bar-B-Que Sunday night and we shot off our own fireworks then. Monday night we went to the city display. They do a pretty good show for the size of town it is. It was nice and cool. We had some clouds come in that make it darker, so they were able to do the display a little earlier than usual. It was a good weekend.

I live in Connecticut (if ya didn't know) and we have really strict rules for fireworks....

no arials ...   only little pooper ground fountains and sparklers and hmmm.. what else.....    hmm.... sparklers and pooper ground fountains.....

no m-80's, no roman candles, nothing that flies or makes big booms.

even bottle rockets are illegal.   sigh.  (they fly and go boom!)

i love fireworks....   I went to a picnic on Sunday (AND YES I HAD TO MAKE THE G. D. POTATO SALAD AGAIN.....  SATURDAY NIGHT THE HOSTESS CALLS AND SAYS... UH, DO YOU MIND BRINGING YOUR POTATO SALAD? JERI DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO MAKE IT).

we had a nice safe fountain show (and a couple of bottle rockets... heh heh heh)

no one lost any fingers or eyes.

I was boring.  I did not want to fight the crowds or traffic this year, so I watched the Boston Pops on TV.  That was plenty for me.   My youngest does not like loud noises and covers her ears during fireworks, so we just skipped it this year.

Our family watched a very fast fieworks show on a lake in rural IL.  It was drizzling as it started and started pouring as it went on.  They started shooting them off as fast as they could, it was really cool!  Fire and water.  We stood in the lake, getting soaked with rain, embers droppin around us.  When it ended, we belted out the Star Spangled Banner, went in and toweled off.  It was great.
