It allowed us to get better reception on the local four stations (4 NBC, 6 CBS, 12 ABC & 10 PBS) but we also picked up WGN in Chicago, and two other stations I can't remember.
Whoa. OK, this is cool.
When I was a kid, with a big antenna, you could pick up WGN too! It was mostly in places like hotels and such. My grandparents had one of those huge tower antennas out back for a little while, and my grandpa would watch the Cubs games.
I think it was about '80 when we got a color TV. I remember my dad bought the color TV with the last paycheck he got after he quit working at "the plant" (B-D) here in town and went back to farming full time.

Oh man, I spent my summers in front of the TV watching the Cubs. I was more a Cubs fan than a Brewers fan because of that.
Back in those days they only showed Brewers road games on TV, and even then only about 50 of them. The Cubs showed about 150 games a year.
My dad bought ours when our first and only big mall here in Saginaw opened. Sears was one of the first stores to go into the mall and they were running a big grand opening sale.
Isn't it funny some of the things you can remember, while other things are like "what, when did that happen??"

Even with the age difference and the distance, it's probably likely that we were both watching the same Cubs games, on the same station, at least a couple times. That's cool.
Ghost: Ours had a dial on top of the TV that spun the antenna on top of the roof. For some reason I got real joy out of turning it 360 degrees then running outside to watch it sloooooooooooowly rotate.
Good day, all. Its a weird one around here too. Lots of people are out for spring break with the kids. Lots of others are out for watching March Madness basketball. Its sunny and already 50* which will make it even more difficult to keep people here... and its payday and bonus day. Oh yeah... and we have the "day after some people got their layoff notices" vibe going through the office.
