After years of scrutiny, Ricky Martin has come out of the closet.
Martin just posted the following message on his official website: "Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment ... These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."
He ends his post with, "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
I gotta say, this does surprise me a little. But then I never really followed the guy much in the magazines so I guess I wouldn't have known anyway.
Last night I was watching Rachel Maddow on MSNBC and I always wondered if she was gay but wasn't sure. She wears her hair like a guy and dresses like a guy, but yet she's got a pretty face, so I thought maybe she was just trying to make sure she was taken seriously as a newswoman. Not that you NEED to look like a guy to be taken seriously in news, but who knows what goes through an individuals mind.
At any rate, I looked her up online and she makes no attempt to hide it, she definately prefers the gals over the guys. Can't say that I blame her.
Not exactly stunning info to me. I would have been surprised if it would have turned out that he wasn't gay. No big deal... people are who they are.
JR, apparently you don't watch Rachel Maddow's show very often. I laugh every time I see her commercial for her show on MSNBC... the version where she says, "I'm not trying to push an agenda of any stripe..." cuz that is flat out BS. For obvious reasons she is all about gay rights. I don't fault her for that. She SHOULD be all about that. Its just a little hypocritical to say she is not pushing an agenda when clearly she is. Apparently someone must have pointed that out because there is a second version where she leaves out the "of any stripe" part.

I saw that commercial last night. Along with the Chris Matthews one where he pats himself on the back for his ability to get a person to crack in an interview.
You're right, I don't watch Maddow very often. Usually only on lunch at work on nights when I'm kind of tired and need something to wake me up. She's usually good at getting me riled up.
She's nothing compared to Keith Oberlman though. I'm pretty sure that guy could bring me back from the dead he get's me so angry. Forget the defibrillator, play me one of Keith's monologues and I'll be back on my feet in no time. Well, until the blood pressure causes a major artery to burst.
Yeah, they all crack me up. I split my time between news sources for information. I do tend to leave the TV on while I sleep and generally leave it on MSNBC since I know they don't run any infomercials or weird loud noises, so I do tend to hear the lot of them at some point. Anybody's extremists work my nerves.

I've always been a firm believer that you just can't get your news from one source anymore. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, delivers it opinion-free anymore. So I go to Fox for my Opinion because the conservative views are more in line with my own, but I watch CNN & MSNBC on a fairly regular basis as well.
I have to admit though I've shut Olberman out completely now though. He's just gotten too wacko for my taste.
I read this and had to laugh. Anyone with a brain and a "GayDar" picked this up the first day. the video alone for Livin La Vida Loca was enough to make you know. Like Mama I would have been surprised if he said he wasnt. Thats like people saying Clay Aiken was straight.
No big deal... people are who they are.
