I remember finding a £20 note in a chinese take away, it was just lay there on the floor, me and my girlfriend were the only ones in there so I picked it up payed for that food with it and walked out, free meals always taste that much better!
My story is actually one of those hidden treasure stories. I was hiking in the hills and came across a large flat rock with a rusty coat hanger wrapped around it with the end buried in the dirt. I pulled up the rock and found a metal box with $1300 dollars in various bills. This was back in 98 or 99. The date on the bills was 1981. The box was rusty but the inside looked like it had never been touched. My guess was someone had taken the money from somewhere and forgot where they had hidden it. If the bills wouldn't have been so old I probably would have turned it in.
When I was a kid I couldn't pass a pay phone or paper machine without finding money.

I seem to find money quite often. The last time was in June a $5 bill laying on a sidewalk. No one around but me and Mr. Lincoln. The most I've ever found was $40, two twenties, when I was working at a Sporting goods store. I was walking to the front of the store when I saw money laying in front of the sales counter. No one was in the store but me. I held on to it for 3-4 days waiting for someone to claim it but no one ever did. I felt bad because it was Christmas time and I knew someone was going to miss it. I used it for my Christmas shopping instead.
I found someone's money clip once, but it only had $50 in it. It was by the customer service counter at a store, and I saw it when I was in the checkout. I kept looking for someone to come back in and pick it up, or someone else to pick it up as they walked out, but no one did. I had to have been in that line for about 10 minutes. So when I was walking out, I picked it up.
But Jeremy, your story was hilarious. It was very hard not to laugh out loud!
That was the year I was in a transition phase between jobs and the money came in real handy!
I thought about turning it in but figured if the bills were that old noone would probably claim it and the Policeman's Ball would have ended up with another dinner choice on the menu that year.

I found a wallet once with three thousand dollars in it. All one hundred dollar bills. It was while I was at school in Hawaii, and I thought it might have been someones vacation money. I was working security too so there was that extra tug at my good side. I turned it in. The wallet was claimed with less than an hour, I handed it to the man, who said thank you. Because he offered no reward, I vowed that if that ever happens again, I',m keeping it.
Riggs was it a couple of $50s or $100s that I found blowing around by my old job, and you told your sister and she was going to go "money hunting" out there! I think it was $50s. Found one on lunch on the lawn, made my day. Found another one that blew past the window of my car. grabbed that. I bet I spent an hour and a half looking for more! RIght before christmas too that was great~

Ok here's a crazy money finding story. I have this friend who just has really good karma. He lives in get this Milwaukee. We were walking down the street one night and he said if he wanted to he could find money. And about 1 minute later he looked on the top of a trash can (they are like metal netting that you can see through) and found a dollar. I was totally stunned. He wasn't at all. And he couldn't have planted it. He just has good luck that way.
I have some sort of mental problem that makes me part with my money very quickly. If i am not spending on useless things, then i am losing it... i lost 20 bucks at the beginning of June and am still frosted about it.
I have lost my purse more times than i dare count. And have had it stolen too.
I don't carry a purse anymore.
and i think i may have found 10 bucks once. in a dressing room.. since i was shopping first thing in the AM, i figured that it had to be from the night before and kept it. although they were probably taping me in the dressing room to see what i would do.
watch me end up on TV someday. wouldn't that stink.
I got my purse not only stolen but snatched right off of my body!! I lost $50 dollars, my check book and house key, car keys! It was a pain and kind of scary.
luckily mine was stolen out of the car.... and i lost more with the coach bag than i did with the cash inside. (at least i think i did) it was a few years ago.
I've got lucky (?). I've had my wallet stolen twice, once from my then, and not long after ex, best friend, and once out of my car that had dysfuntional locks, but neither time had any cash in it. In fact, now, unless I'm wearing pants without pockets, I carry my essentials in my pocket and rarely carry a purse.
Once when I was in Boy Scouts we were hiking along a very hilly trail and I spotted a dollar in the brush just off the path. I scampered down to it, and saw four more a little farther down. When I got to the last one, there was a five dollar bill tucked down into the brush. When I got back up to the path some other scouts asked what the heck I was doing down there, and I showed them the cash. Suddenly there were 5 or 6 scouts scouring the hillside. I was the only one who found money, and I ordered myself a pizza at the mess hall that night.
I had my purse stolen too. I had my car running to drop my son off at daycare and then run to work. I got back to my car and my purse was gone. I was devasted! However, the only money I had was to pay my electric bill and it was in the electric bill envelope. I hope they saw it was a bill and did not bother. That would be my only joy.
