In the same way there was the story of strength in the good saturday morning thread- I almost forgot to mention this one that I found out yesterday.

There is this lady at work originally from Senegal. She became a US citizen recently and we had a party for her at work. I figured she came to America to find a better life. But I did not know what she was fleeing- until yesterday.

The tribe she is a part of came under attack from rebels. One of the last thing she remembers is fleeing with two babies in her arms, her husband and another older child fleeing with her. They were being chased with men with guns. They had to hide under dead bodies in order to escape. I could hardly imagine this.

She is now here in Milwaukee, working long hours where we work. There is such a wisdom, nobility, and friendliness about her for her young years.

I do not know a lot of the other details. But she is here with her 13 yr old son, who is adapting to both the good and bad parts of a new culture. Its hard for her to keep an eye on him, having to work as she does to get by.

But there is another child still back in Senegal, 9 yrs old. And our local office of the Department of Homeland Security is just giving this poor woman the run around.

She made an appointment at the local office and showed up with the needed paperwork and money. $340 to even file the application to be considered for immigration. Well the person at the office said she had to mail this in. She wanted to know what this appointment was even for. It was to give her the address that she had to mail the paperwork into. WHICH WAS THE ADDRESS OF THE OFFICE SHE WAS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bureaucrat piece of #$&!!!!

Furthermore, the only way to schedule this appointment is through the internet. How many new immagrants have the internet, can even read english?????? A nice lady at work helped her do this.

I am sure if she can survive what she did in Senegal, she can weather this other storm of federal bureacracy. Mark my word, if I find she has even more grief, it is I who is going to go down to this office and step it up a notch for her. She is very intimidated and frustrated, out of her home, her element. I will go toe to toe with this beauracrat if I have to. That is no way to treat people, especially workin & struggling like she is.
