Cats are just too cool! pretty low maintenance! I like dogs, but am allergic to them. Plus that whole pick up the yard, need a bath, go for a walk thing is pretty much a life-style choice!  

Two of each, it's a tie!  Wonder what Dave's vote will be?  Hmmmmmmmm.......

My dog follows me everywhere.  She lays at my feet all day in the office.  She sleeps by my side of the bed.  I walk through the house to check on my kids and she follows me.  I walk to the bathroom and she follows me.  She sits outside the door.  BUT--she has presence and while all my neighbors have had problems with theft no one messes with my yard or house.  My dog goes nuts if anyone is in the Cul De Sac.  She has a very deep bark and growl.  she is not real big, but about 70 pounds, just enough to make people stop.  She steps in between strangers and my kids when we are walking or if someone comes into the house-- she stands right next to me growling--if the kids answer the door, her bark does not cease until my wife of I show up.  Yes high maintenance, but boy she's a great companion.  she is a Chow/Shepherd Mix.

    the climate here is anti -dog ,to hot ,humid , tons of fleas , ticks , and loads of skin problems .  as for katts , well i've already been married , why would i want something else that never listens to anything i say ? 

Poor Dave. But at least he knows the truth.
