New Beatles/ Old Beatles?

Which Beatles Music do you prefer- old Beatles -" I Wanna Hold Your Hand" or new Beatles -"Hey Jude"?

(lol its funny calling a band that broke up in 1970 "new" Beatles!)

I am not the biggest Beatle fan in the world- but "Hey Jude" has to be one of the best songs of all time. I can just envision the joy of performing that song as it took shape for the first time.

& I think there is a lot of disposable and tired material out there- what was up with that whole "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Yellow Submarine" stuff?

So for me, I prefer the old stuff. "Twist and Shout", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". I appreciate it from a historical perspective. To go from a tired, tired radio that played Perry Como and songs like "How Much Is That Doggie In the Window" to the first notes of " I Want To Hold Your Hand" was obviously Earth shattering- and I would have LOVED to have been there to hear it for the first time!

I don't know, I think of the Beatles as just the Beatles, and never contemplate whether a song is old or new.  Thinking over some of my favorite Beatles songs, it seems to be split about 50/50.

I think if anyone in 1970 were to ask John Lennon to sing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", he'd try and kick them in the eye!

You missed a choice- all of the above. I love all the Beatles songs. One of my favorite is Lady Madonna, I think they wrote it for me!

I love the Beatles...

I liked the older stuff, just because you could hear the joy they felt at making great music.

I liked the newer stuff because of the amazing things they did with sound that still sound fresh today...the studio was their playground and I can appreciate their experimental approach.

Either way...this band has influenced so many musicians, myself included...that to call them just a band would be inaccurate.

I agree with MZ and Ruby, The Beatles really don't fit "old" or "new" because they didn't try to re-invent themselves for marketing's sake.  They just did their thing.  "Both" should be a voting option.

I liked the old stuff while they were still grounded.

My favorite is the Paul McCartney died in car accident years ago and was replaced by a double.  Somewhere I have a documentary on that.  Supposedly there are clues when you play the albums backwards, something about the walrus etc.  Its been years.
