Do you prefer to drive stick shift or automatic?


I know some people love stick and others don't like it.  So let's see where our freeze-framers stand.

I've just recently learned how to drive a stick, but I've never really had enough practice to do it comfortably.

I've never had a manual, and learned on an automatic as well.  It's one of those things that I say I really need to do some day, just for practicality.

I used to love manual- more control over the engine and reaction of the car. I thought automatic would be boring!! But the new car is automatic and I've adjusted nicely.

I have never attempted to drive a stick shift. I guess it would be a good thing to know, but I just was never taught.

I've known how to do it for awhile but I'm like Mz - not comfortable enough to do it all the time.  Man we are so similar in the little things.  All of us!  Like the cats and coffee - cool, huh?

I can drive either one but for any long drive I prefer auto with cruise control.

I voted for automatic, but only because of the practicality of it. It is hard to beat your kids and use both hands for driving!


 


I loved the stick. My father would never teach me- the you are a girl issue. So that made me more determined to learn. He bought me a stick shift car and did not even know it. I needed a car and he worked it out with the dealer that I could get whatever I wanted within a certain price range (yes he is rich, not me tho!) Anyway, I bought a stick and the car salesman taught me how to drive it. However when my son got older, I needed at least one hand to turn around and smack him with! Or pick up his juice box, toy, etc...

   used to love the stick in my big 4x4 s , but now with traffic the way it is , you'll burn out a clutch or blow a knee out constantly shifting , up -down -stop , over and over, now i just take my foot off  the brake and creep forward , also alot of girls dont want to sit close to ya with a clutch , keep getting elbowed , with an auto. - arm around them !

I drove stick for many years.  As I got older I decided it is too much work, so I switched to auto.  I am to lazy to keep shifting.
