This song is climbing the Top 20 request list and it was such a MINOR, MINOR hit off his last greatest hits CD that I can't imagine it's actually that popular.
I figure all the requests have to be from one person.
I can tell from your tone that IT IS IN FACT YOU!!!
Hey, that's cool, I like Mellencamp, I was just curious who liked that song in particular. Personally I preferred PEACEFUL WORLD when it comes to his newer stuff.
Hi Im john melloncamp ,I'm a 2nd rate struggling musician who is trying to become famous. My agent says my name ain't cool enuff for the chicks so I'll change it to John Cougar ! meow. Now that I've sold a few copies of a crappy song I can tell everyone how they "made me do it " and change my name to John Cougar Melloncamp. meow. Now that I'm on M T V everyone thinks I'm cool(my songs still lack) and now the Vj's can call me JCM !! meow . Now that I've gotten everyones attention ,and the management fears me leaving for another label, I can change my name again ! Hows John Melloncamp sound ? meow.
Woah...Dave layin down the Mellencamp smack...There will be none of that, especially when There are members of this forum that Lived mere minutes away from him for a number of years & actually enjoy his music (though I'll be honest I have no clue what Walk tall is). B-Twn Indiana, Is a beautiful Spot & when someone takes the time to write music about a place like that instead of "B!t*# Better Have My MoneY" He's got my respect, & I'll be glad to listen to him any day...plus having met him after IU Basketball & football games, he's a really nice guy.
You're like a guy who's been aquitted of all charges but keeps turning up at the courthouse each day to say he didn't do it I BELIEVE YOU, but if you keep showing up to pronounce your innocence I'm going to have to start to wonder!
Perhaps it's a case of the tell-tale heart, maybe you have immense guilt for having been found innocent of a crime you KNOW you actually commited! ADMIT IT! YOU'RE THE WALK TALL FAN! ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, weird, as soon as I hit reply, Walk Tall comes on.
At any rate, Mo, when did you live in Bloomington? That's where I live! I used to like Mellencamp, but now that I live in Bloomington, I don't like him all that much anymore. I'm sick of hearing his stuff on the radio all the time, and I've heard he can be pretty rude to some of the people working at the places he visits. I have a friend that works at Bobby's Pub, that he's been pretty crappy to, and I've known several people (my husband included) who've been working at the Bakehouse when he comes in. I still haven't met him, so I'm holding most judgement for now, but I am sick of hearing him on the radio.
A Townie eh, Mz Hartz...Yeah I was one o those pain in the ass College transplants that ballooned the town by 35,000 every year, But B-Town was much more my home than Illinois was because I moved from NJ to IL right after HS Graduation, So from 97-2002 I lived in B-town 8+ months out of the year, & in IL 3+ Months out of the year, So I considered Bloomington more my home than Illinois...In fact During My 1st Senior year, when they called out members of the Marching hundred to take a bow on the field, they announced my from NJ still cuz I hadn't lived in IL long enough to be a resident there...but I didn't have "legal" residence in Bloomington, so they had to say I was from NJ even though I hadn't been there for 4 years.
As For Mellencamp...he was always pretty cool to members of the Hundred, especially after our Mellencamp tribute show in '97. Plus he'd stop by and say something every once & a while to the Big red Pep Band at b-ball games...maybe it's a music thing...
His concert at Homecoming one year was amazing...he kicked off a tour In Assembly Hall for Homecoming, & I have never been to a better concert with a better atmosphere.
You know, I think one of the hardest things about being a celebrity is probably that you have to be nice all the time, because on those days when you're crabby and you show it, the word is sure to get out that you're a jerk.
Having said that, I have heard that Mellencamp is a pretty cranky guy. Putting that aside I've always loved his music, but hated his politics. So I like hearing him on the radio, but stay away from him when he's on the talk show circuit or anything like that. I do respect his concern for the farms though.
face it , the mom and pop farmer days are over, its like having mom and pops next to wall mart. those people need to face reality , sell their farms to the corp. and go to work for them milking the cow they just sold. MOO ! and mellon head can clean out the stalls
I know a couple farmers that are still doing alright. They'll always have their place. There's a whole lotta people that prefer to buy their stuff from a small farmer at the market than from some corporate behemeth that only sells at the big grocery stores.
They're never going to get rich doing it, but it's an honest life-style and a noble profession. I wouldn't mind owning a small farm when I get a little older.
shoveling manure when I'm 50 ! YEE-HAWW ! side note- will you (or any one else) win in a "debate with me ? I'm thinking ... NO Will you (or anyone else )ever get in the last word ? I"m thinking....Not !
